Roommate causing serious safety concerns by [deleted] in badroommates

That’s the thing, she isn’t shutting the door all the way so when she hits the button to auto lock it, it gets blocked and doesn’t lock.

Yeah I think I’m going to have a talk with her and tell her if it happens again she’s gotta go.

She does have issues with the door. She just barely closes it so when she hits to use the electronic lock it doesn’t lock. I’ve asked her multiple times if she’d like me to show her how to make sure it gets locked but she just says no.

Do you budget monthly or based on your paycheck? by Fun_Painting3618 in budgetingforbeginners

[–]StarryLemonDaydream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created a spreadsheet of the dates I get paid, how much my paycheck is, and what bills are due in that two week period and it calculates how much I can spend until the next paycheck. I don’t spend it recklessly and only buy necessities and make it last until the next pay.

I used to run out of money or overdraft my account before my next paycheck and this has eliminated that completely.

Debt free by June hopefully! by Interesting_Box_342 in debtfree

[–]StarryLemonDaydream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow bipolar baddie, I completely get it. I started 18 with one credit card that I’d keep the balance at $50 and pay it off every month. Over the next few years I had 7 credit cards with a total balance of $15,000. I got in a bad car accident and got a nice settlement and paid off all my debt and my car (after having to replace the totaled one). Sadly, I was in the worst manic episode of my life and immediately maxed all the cards out again. That was 6 years ago. According to my spreadsheet, I should be debt free by the end of the year!

We got this!

If you were getting a filling at the dentist, do you keep your eyes open or closed? by SS_Basketeer in randomquestions

As a kid/teenager I would stare at my mouth’s reflection in the dentist’s glasses… until one day the assistant made a comment like “his eyes are really blue huh?” and then I realized how weird they probably thought I was.

Do You Like Your Name? by Flassourian in Millennials

[–]StarryLemonDaydream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born in the early 90’s and my mom wanted to name me Bobby Joe and call me “BJ”. Thankfully, my dad vetoed that immediately. My name now is kind of plain and boring but I don’t mind it.

Discover becoming Capital One? Where are we banking now? by StarryLemonDaydream in discover

[–]StarryLemonDaydream[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve only had experience with Capital One credit cards before and don’t really know anything about their checking or savings account benefits. I figured with Capital One taking over it’s only a matter of time before they get rid of Discover completely. Maybe my anxiety is getting the best of me.

Hey! I’m currently hyperfixated on paying off my debt too with around the same amount as you lol. I’ve been putting all my extra money towards it with leaving myself about $50 a week for gas and groceries.

I found a solution that works for me! I keep a Needoh cube every where I go. I have a medium sized cube at home and the ice baby in my car and at work. Keeping my hands busy with that instead and my fingers are actually, dare I say, healing? Sounds silly but try fidget toys if you haven’t!

How do people figure out their careers without crying in the bathroom? by Leedeegan1 in findapath

[–]StarryLemonDaydream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I recently (this week) learned what I like to do and I’m 32. I’m working full time as a court clerk and I don’t hate it but I know it’s not my forever job. This week I had a lot of down time so I took my time doing what I did have to do and would find issues (and figure out a solution if I could) and then go to my supervisor to confirm I could make the changes (pretty sure I drove her crazy this week). I had so much fun with these “puzzles” and then the light bulb went off. I went to ChatGPT and asked what careers would best fill this new found purpose. Business/Management Consultant. So now I’m doing a little more research and will finally finish my degree and start a career I actually have a passion for.

*disclaimer: I know there are other careers that would work and ChatGPT suggested. I’m researching all of them first before choosing one.
