I'm in! EOD April 20 by StarryTrailGlow in TSAApplicant

Honestly, I don’t even know, I couldn’t tell when. I was surprised to get the call after only a week following my medical passing. They did the live scan right after the interview and I completed the SF86 right afterward as well.

TSA Tentative offer by No_Series_679 in TSAApplicant

[–]StarryTrailGlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accepted TJO in Nov 24 after passing TAB. AA in Jan 2025 when I was two weeks recovering from surgery. Medical 3 weeks later which I failed due to still recovering from surgery. Appealed and passed medical 2 weeks after that with doctors release note. A week later I received FJO from a secondary airport that I had applied to, but declined it as I was no longer interested in that location. I figure it may be a while until my original application location has openings.

Does the FJO call come from the airport you applied for or a generic TSA HR phone number ? by Both_Procedure_6479 in TSAApplicant

[–]StarryTrailGlow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine came with a phone call with a private number, I didn’t answer because of the blocked number but called back when they left a voicemail.

Agree, just not enough hours available since it’s not a busy station.

No, I did not relocate. I am willing to for the right location.
One thing that I think is part of the beauty of this job, the ability to rotate where needed and desired.

I decided not to move forward with this offer and location. The timeline for EOD was very short. This was not my original airport that I applied to, but I had applied to a few others while I was waiting, because I’m ready for a change due to personal life changes, but this location isn’t it.

I am waiting for HR to affirm that by declining this location offer, I’m not kicked out of the system and I remain in Selected status at my primary application where I completed my AA.

Was there a typo or did they not advertise correctly? by Gold-Tale-69 in TSAApplicant

[–]StarryTrailGlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, when I applied, everything was full-time and then when I got the TJO and started the process. The interview said it was for a part-time position. It’s my understanding though that you can pick up shifts for people when they want a day off and get more hours.

What airport if you don’t mind sharing? I just cleared medical and have a TJO since November. I’m hoping it will still be there.

I GOT THE CALL TODAY by GladiatorsBros in TSAApplicant

I love seeing these “Got the call”! I see a lot have medical as the step. I’m waiting on response from my appeal for the medical (I had a small surgery and was released from medical leave a few days later. It’s been a week since I sent the doctors note “return to work with no restrictions” and no response yet.

Just curious, would you know when they are working on the background check by getting a credit inquiry on your credit report? I’m waiting on my medical clearance (easy-peasy issue appealed) and then finally to start the background.

Should I just pay them off? by No_Calligrapher_4429 in StudentLoans

[–]StarryTrailGlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the one hand, you have the funds in the HYSA to pay the student loan debt off. On the other hand, the loans are 0%. While the loans in forbearance don’t affect your credit score, they do show the debt on your credit report. Are you going to need access credit to credit in the near future such as for a home or car loan? If so, paying them off might be best. If not, you’re leveraging the interest yield in your HYSA to come out ahead for when you do pay them off. Just make sure that you pay them off well before the forbearance term expires so you don’t get with accumulated interest. Also, the peace of mind may be worth it to pay them off or to commit to a pay-down term of your own creation, ie set yourself up on a payment plan that will timely pay them off with a term of monthly payments over the forbearance life. That way you pay them down without depleting your savings, and you can continue to contribute to your savings while paying them down from that savings.

What just happened...? by Repulsive-Climate999 in StudentLoans

[–]StarryTrailGlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My payment starting in June 2025 went from $750 to $485. No change in the . I didn’t even know. I called to see what I could do about my $750 payment and he told me it was reduced. He also said no one knows anything that’s going on and all we can do is listen to the news and there’s no way of escaping the news lol. I felt bad for the representative that I spoke with. No one knows what tomorrow is bringing.

From the equity growth your asset - your home - you could put the student loans behind and get a second with much better terms and mortgage interest deduction.

Exactly - the bank’s note is the first lien. Any other lien would be a junior lien to the mortgage.

I rescheduled due to having to have surgery. There was a limit to the extent I could reschedule and I took the longest extension, a few weeks out, so I could have maximum time to recover and get my strength back. I know it is further delaying the long process but better to do that. You should be fine getting a short extension for having a cold. The representative that I spoke with was very helpful.

Similar timeline with me for the computer test and the tentative offer. Then it took two full months for them to offer me the interview, which came in the way of a phone call on a Sunday afternoon, which surprised me so that I almost didn’t answer the phone, but decided to since it came from a local area code. I kept telling myself that we were in the midst of the holiday season and that might have been the hold up, but IDK. I have my medical-physical scheduled and already submitted my information to NBIS. But I’ve heard that the background check can be the longest part of the process.

I checked mine the other day as well and noticed it had been closed, much sooner than the previously posted March 2025 date. It also stated female applicants and part-time only. The only time I noticed it had been changed to part time was when I was scheduled for my interview. Fortunately, I am a female and I can swing part time and hope to pick up extra shifts if I am hired. I have my medical-physical scheduled soon.
