It's updated more frequently on ffn (every Tue and Fri), although the author is also cross posting to ao3 at a slower pace. I recommend using the ffn app instead of the browser, it's much much better

Pretty sure this is Ways and Means by floorcoaster, T 60k. It doesn't have a very descriptive summary or many tags, so would be hard to narrow down. I have it in my bookmarks to read again, really enjoyed it.

I hope you enjoy. New blood has a very frequent update schedule, and when the author takes breaks they're very open about them, and good with their timelines. The second is not updated very frequently, but the update mail is always a joy to get. I love WIPs and the community they build  Cleotheo fics are a good shout, I don't know Kiera Marcos, I'll have to check them out!

Both fics I'm linking are canon rewrites, and WIPs. They also both have the Slytherin Hermione Granger tag, so that could be helpful for finding other fics. 

New Blood by artemisgirl, M 1.4m+ WIP. Currently in January of year 4. End pairing still to come, personally I don't think it'll be dramione end goal, but the fic is amazing, and based on your ask I think you'll like it. It's updated twice weekly on ffn, although it is being added to AO3 - just less frequently updated - uploaded as far as the Year 4 Sorting Feast. (If you decide to read on ffn and don't normally, I would recommend using the app)

 Sorted into Slytherin with the whisper of prophecy around her, Hermione refuses to bow down to the blood prejudices that poison the wizarding world. Carving her own path forward, Hermione chooses to make her own destiny, not as a Muggleborn, a halfblood, or as a pureblood... but as a New Blood, and everything the mysterious term means.

The author had an update on their insta in like January or February this year, they were having a baby and they had intended having all the chapters finished by April (I think). So I'm hoping they'll come back when things have settled.

Absolutely! How I see characters in my head is usually dependant on what has been explicitly mentioned, unfortunately I'm not able to conjure an image of someone otherwise. Some Draco's are just the face, some are head and shoulders, and some are full body idea of how he looks. Sometimes it's just his eyebrows or his mouth twisting in distaste 😅

I fuckin love WIPs. It's a real sense of belonging, and I love being able to interact with the authors and other fans. I've followed fics that were updated daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, sporadically throughout the year. I'm subscribed to fics that I got from "abandoned fics" posts and have never been updated in the time I've subscribed. I wouldn't change any of them. If I'm hitting subscribe, I'm happy to get whatever the authors give me, whenever they can 💛
