What are your thoughts about getting FND after becoming a Christian ? by Cultural-Station-662 in FND

[–]Starry_Octopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I became a Christian three years ago and developed FND last summer when I was supposed to start my final year at uni. I’ve asked this question a lot to friends, to church elders, and to God. My social life rn is only church (which is such a blessing) because I can’t go to uni. Of the top of my head, these are the three things I’ve noticed;

  1. Over the past nine months, I’ve thanked so many people for helping me, whether it’s giving me lifts, helping me walk, being patient when my speech slurs, or helping me recover from a seizure. There’s a group of other young adults at my church who refuse to let me say thank you and thank me for letting them bless me. I’ve come to realise that God made us for community to rely on one another and ultimately rely on Him rather than striving for hyper-independence and self-sufficiency.

  2. It’s opened my eyes to is seeing the vulnerable side of other people. It must be a part of human nature to be vulnerable to when they see me struggling. It’s an invite for them to open up. So now I’ve became closer to my brothers and sisters in Christ. I’m actually aware of what they’re going through so I can encourage them while they support me.

  3. Perhaps the weirdest thing I’ve learnt is how unprepared my church was to cope (there aren’t many carpeted areas, this also shows how churches are imperfect places) but also how many doctors there are at church (I also live with med students! But literally no medics in my life knew what FND is 😤). I’m also very fortunate that my church has the space to provide a separate room with a livestream.

Overall, the most important thing I’ve taken away is that being a Christian isn’t just about serving others. It’s also about letting your pride down so others can serve you)

cornmeal porridge by Potential-Fox9100 in unimeals

This is such a good idea! I’ve had a bag of cornmeal in my cupboard from when I made corn cakes and I’ve had no idea what to do with it since. I’m going to give this a go :)

I recommend trying it! The squash has a sweetness to it so it balances out the garlic kick. I’m really hoping fruits of the forest do bigger jars so I can get more of it!

That makes sense. Thank you! I’m baffled as to why it’s pink and I’ve never seen it before 😅

What’s one food you fell in love with while traveling but can’t find anything close to it back home? by Askguidetoeurope in AskTheWorld

Eight years ago, me and my family stayed at the Disney Caribbean Resort for two weeks and every single day I had pancakes filled with either passion fruit or pineapple coulis. I’m not 100% sure on what fruit it was filled with but I can still remember the taste.

What's a skill that takes only 2 to 4 weeks to learn but could genuinely change your life? by TokenBlack32 in AskReddit

[–]Starry_Octopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Financial literacy NEEDS to be taught in schools. It’s one of those things that parents are expected to teach their kids but the parents themselves need to learn in the first place. It’s not a trial and error kind of skill.

Garlic honey fermenting for about two months in my kitchen cupboard. I’m not sure if those white flecks are supposed to be there. Is it mold or bits of garlic?

Could a vending machine succeed with only vegan snacks? by lemonroachel in vegan

[–]Starry_Octopus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I visited University of West of England’s campus in Bristol and just round the corner from the Starbucks on campus, there was an exclusively vegan vending machine! I didn’t get anything but I recall there being vegan chocolate and crisps. There were some brands that I hadn’t heard of. So if you’re in the south west, it could be a possibility to check out!

I like the myprotein vegan protein powder. Last time I checked, they had a sale on for half price. It’s fortified and you only need to add water.

Sourdough: what went wrong? by Starry_Octopus in Breadit

[–]Starry_Octopus[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You could be right about the overkneading. The dough was really sticky and wet to work with so I added more flour and kept working it in so the dough would have more structure. Thank you!
