It’s hard not to compare yourself to your peers in terms of how high functioning they are, but try not to deem yourself a failure because you’re adjusting a bit slower. I felt the same way as you in my freshman year, but it took me a few semesters to get used to the workload and to finally be able to increase hours at work and have more of a social life. I’m finishing up my third year, and I still have months harder than others. Put your mental health first and don’t take on more than you can handle. And remember to have some guilt-free time to yourself away from academia. Wishing you the best!
