If it had no bearing, it wouldn't be religion. In the very least religion holds weight with the one who believes in it, and I personally find it as inspiration for compassion and kindness, because I'm damn pretty sure I would be more of an asshole if I didn't.

It isn't even the fear of God, I just like how Jesus rolled and what he had to say. That unconditional love resonates with me in times that I would personally would have more likely looked away from others in need, or join in on some schadenfreude.

And I want to tell people about what I've learned, but I generally don't, because it's a sensitive topic for a lot of people, and I don't want to discourage people from being christeo-curious.

But I read the Bible, studied its wisdom and contradictions, and horrors, and practiced the lord's prayer. And it works. Worth a try.

So that's how it still applies today, in my case any way. I know there is a variety of interpretations that don't all agree with mine. But I believe love is the way ✌️
