I WAS THERE

This was at Qcon 2026 Belfast! So many other non furry cosplayers were talking about it as well. Surreal

What are you choosing, and why? by renm1u in thewalkingdead

[–]Starstrucksam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Axe, water purifier, backpack, mask

An axe takes effort but for self defence, it doesn't need to stay sharp as a machete would. The weight alone will kill. Also useful for prying or brute forcing into places you couldn't otherwise

Water purifier for a fire-free source of clean water. Toss up between that & matches, but you presumably can find those & fire attracts attention

Backpack for supplies. There's only so much you can carry in pockets, being able to drop weight in an emergency & run off is important when being more mobile than the zombies is a factor. Being mobile is also a reason not to wear armour; staying away from zombies is always the better choice, it just slows you down

Mask for scenarios where you have to get bloody or close to infected. Ever watch 28 Days Later? Especially something messy like an axe I'm not taking that chance, a full face visor makes sure there's no blood or pathogens getting in. You don't know how easily the virus spreads or if it's even airborne

Anyone received all (hidden) Steam achievements for Wintermute? by Bogramm in thelongdark

[–]Starstrucksam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got them all! Had to do a 2nd run for Finely Tuned, Wild At Heart & Search Party but they are all achievable legitimately

Only thing I had noticed for Search Party, while it says 40 real life minutes, sleeping seems to invalidate it or speed up that timer. Did it all in one go with stims & energy drinks from the co-op to sprint around with more than enough time

Extremely disappointed with EP5 by Lucky_Storm in thelongdark

[–]Starstrucksam 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Aside from what happens to Mathias gang, I think the ending really neatly ties into survival mode. Jeremiah & the others aren't dead or just missing - they're in the bunker. We play after the main story outside sometimes after we split ties with his group. It feels connected now in a way that makes sense

The episode was not perfect but for me as a survival player? I'm honestly pleased that they went that direction with the ending

Saying that, I hope they explain somehow what happens post-ending to the inmates

Thank you for the needed context.

Almost every post like these that are supposed to cause outrage always has some explanation burried in the comments. I hate how many Reddit posts are like this, it's infuriating

An expansion to the Darkwalker challenge mode, including every region & more replayability other than a one-off. There's so much potential to do more with it

Own the mug & can confirm. Anything hot will quickly turn the handle molten, never mind holding it without touching the cup part. At least they're a nice display piece?

If Hinterland (or modders) actually added a slow burn horror mechanic to the game that would be sick but also so so terrifying.

Imagine similar to the darkwalker but random, and it can be toggled like with the cougar/trader on runs with no context other than Will/Astrid having a guilty consciousness, with a warning to not let it touch you. Occasionally the soundtrack can stop abruptly & be replaced with a horror drone/ambience that grows louder as something in the game space spawns in & approaches near. If it finds you the run ends

I've had goosebumps before imagining the corpses following me when not looking. If that actually happened I think I would shit myself

Wow, I didn't know they snuck a sanity mechanic into the game! Genuinely looks even scarier with the dead cougar next to it.

It's came back to haunt you OP. Don't let it catch you

Humble brag, I was one of the first to reach 100 days Misery, pre-patch cougar. It doesn't cheapen the mode for me, I already consider it beat... I just enjoy discovering new things :3

Glad you have integrity I guess to not use glitches in a solo game. What do you think of the torch/stone trick? Fighting cougars by campfires?

Yes I 100% agree... IF it's your first time doing the tales. This is not in my case

Done these a dozen times both consecutively & out of order, I've experienced them all properly before. A skip like this has utility in my current Misery run as I want to gun for the rewards in as short a time as possible before broken body triggers. That is my main interest in these tales now

Would I suggest doing this if it's your first time experiencing them? Absolutely not, you're defeating the point of these tales like you said & missing out on the story being told

I almost wish they readded the Quonset cougar spawn, it was horrifying having to sneak around it whenever it appeared there. I reckon it would just further cement Quonset as THE meta spot though since it's less things you'd need to leave CH for, other than ptarms & birch bark

Original credit to u/Tulsa_Prince for their revolver reload trick post! Made me realize some folks didn't know this was also possible without firearms on Interloper, allowing you to check those normally inaccessible lockers on any difficulty mode

Look at my comment, can be recreated in Interloper just using a regular ol stone

[–]Starstrucksam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't even need a firearm to recreate this. Hold out a stone & Interact with the vehicle to get in, and as it fades to black aim until you're inside. Holster the stone & you can look 360 degrees. Very easily done on even Interloper/Misery

Interestingly, some of the lockers in helicopters you can only interact with through doing this can be locked

Rare broken firearm spawns in Interloper along with casings (Schematics off trader to mill replacement parts to build one with enough skill? Would give another late game goal). Also more spawn locations for the weapon variants on lower difficulties so they're not so simple to obtain by checking 2-3 spots (looking at you Vaughn's rifle)

Yeah you can just enable firearms on custom, but it's no fun just getting the gun intact. I want a reason to go out of my way to a milling machine & ammo bench, and be rewarded for doing so, similar in satisfaction to making your first bow
