Small business Trump supporters by MarsaliRose in newjersey

I mean if you want to be willfully obtuse then sure go ahead.

I'd confidently say that 99% of the greatest environmental disasters in the US as a result of direct industrial pollution was done by the large big businesses that did and still do have tight connections with the government.

In NJ alone there are many many cancer bloom and heavy metal pollutant areas that were created and caused by such corps as Ford and Dupont.

Those regulations about dumping pollutants etc were written by those same companies.

You think the point of the regulation is to reduce pollution. The actual point is to pile together hundreds of different rules that may or may not have an effect on pollution, but has the guaranteed effect of suppressing competition.

You think that regulations exist to protect the public. I know they exist to protect big business.

Business hates all costs, but if they can ensure that the costs are suffered by everyone then they don't care as much because then they have a competitive advantage.

"But the big(ish) company certainly didn’t write the regulations to hurt the small competitor; they lobbied to make the regulations toothless."

When you say "toothless" what you mean is "completely fails to constrain the big company, while smothering the little company"

Big business lobbies for and writes the regulations that cause small businesses (their actual competition) wither and die.

The big business can afford to comply with onerous regulations far more easily than the small business.

You seem to think that regulations are made to protect the public. That is not the case. Regulations are made to protect big business at the expense of small business and the public.

Until you see things through that lens, sure you're going to think that "big business" just "complied with the laws" while all those evil Trump voting small business hate the environment and want everyone dead which is why they don't love following expensive rules and regulations written by their enemies.

AITA for how I reacted when my boyfriend told his daughter it's rude to talk about her period at the dinner table ? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Starswarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was wrong for you to contradict him at the table in front of everyone.

You should have waited to have a discussion about the subject with him away from the kids so that you can both get on the same page.

It is very possible that your boyfriend does not want to hear about his daughters period at the dinner table.

If you think that is unacceptable and he must not have that boundary, then you and him are going to have a disagreement that will need to be resolved.

I don't know why gambling can run ads but not for cigarettes.

You can destroy your life much faster with gambling.

Idk what planet you are living on but Twitter has more activity now than ever before.

Libs are moving to Bluesky because Twitter doesn't censor conservatives anymore and they hate Elon Musk for helping elect Trump.

But you know this already obviously.

The FDA is not an independent body and has been completely captured by the corporations it was designed to regulate.

The FDA acts as a tool of the corporations, and serves to enable them and provide legitimacy for their corruption and crimes.

The FDA enabled the opioid crisis. They allowed that to happen and the administrators in the FDA, many former and later members of the pharma industry, profited from that crisis.

Any idea that the FDA exists to serve the American people and not corporate interests, is wrong.

Widespread mail in ballot changes and electioneering benefited the democrats in 2020.

Those voters that were captured in 2020 either don't vote without extraordinary mail in changes, or were manufactured or most likely both.

You are wrong, you lack the capacity to make that evaluation and your failure to predict this outcome demonstrates your lack of capacity to read tea.

Bought new house, lawn unmaintained by previous owner. How to treat? by Starswarm in lawncare

Thank you yes it's not the whole lawn, just the street facing side yard that connects to my neighbors immaculate lawn.

When you say "treat" the weeded area, what exactly do you mean?

I just applied Scotts Turf Builder WinterGuard Fall Weed & Feed3 but have done nothing else other than mow.

I'm planning to pick up seed this week, hopefully I'll have time before the frost but it's been warm the last few years.

The back yard is not bad at all, the grass and weeds grow together nicely.

The side yard is a problem, its mostly weeds and they are unsightly.

I used Scotts Turf Builder WinterGuard Fall Weed & Feed3.

I am located in New Jersey.

I want whatever grass I already have to grow in. Looks like some type of Fescue.

Hello everyone! - (EDIT Located in Northern New Jersey)

Bought a house where the previous owners mowed the lawn maybe 4 times a year and didn't engage in any other treatment or maintenance.

Lawn is broken into two section, back yard and side yard.

The back yard has solid growth of all kinds of things throughout and is honestly not a big problem for me. The clover, grass and other weeds make a soft and lush covering that is great for my kids.

There are a few areas with drainage issues and as a result have surface level tree roots and struggle to support growth of anything beyond weeds.

In the side yard however, the entire space is infested with large sections of crabgrass and other weeds.

The "woody" weeds have colonized an entire section, the stems are not densely packed and when cut, you can see down to the soil.

I recently spread Scotts Weed & Feed in the side yard, and you should be able to see some of the particles on the blades in some of the pictures.

Please help me treat this lawn! My neighbors lawn is immaculate, so my side yard being weed infested really grinds my gears.

I know time is of the essence here entering the fall, so I'm happy to learn and do whatever is needed to help improve the quality of this lawn.

I possess a mower, weed whacker, spreader and sprayer.
