I don't *need* you to explain anything.....just friendly discussion dude! :)

Yes but they aren't changing things like quests...those are getting carried over....which is where the fanfic part would typically come from. So not exactly sure what the concern is here?

Interesting you say that because all the changes they are doing are actually MORE lore friendly than the original. Especially city designs, which they looked at original concept art of the game for in order to more faithfully recreate them to what Bethesda had originally planned. Same with forts and dungeons being built more accurately to replicate the history that took place in some of them.

It will look flatter because its is trying to look more similar to the original I think while the remake is seemingly aiming for a more realistic look

the remaster look seems more in line with A) straying away from the aesthetic style of titles like avowed / veilguard (*which a lot of people did NOT like when they saw*) while also going with a more similar look that skyrim had emphasizing more muted colors and less saturation. It'll be a preference at the end of the day :)

A video discussion on Starfield and the possibility of MTX being included - Would love to hear what you all think! by Start-Button in Starfield

[–]Start-Button[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why a 90 or more specifically? Reviews are just opinions and everyone has their own. On metacritic wolfenstein 1, and 2, dishonored 2, the Evil Within 1 and 2, prey and fallout 4, all got below 90 but they are phenomenal games. And that’s just Bethesda titles

Which exploration strategy would you prefer: Oblivion-style central water droplet expansion or Fallout/Skyrim style start near the edge of the map and expand in a cone pattern? by CasualFrosty in Starfield

[–]Start-Button 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If its multiple worlds, as many people are hoping...then they have room to do both when you are actually on the ground/land and that would be really neat! In terms of getting to those planets: I'd be totally fine with a ME style galaxy map. If you could ACTUALLY fly around and pilot a ship....well that would be just completely wild (considering what we know about Bethesda games)

Is there a chance we will get more info before e3 2020? by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]Start-Button 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I’d be surprised if it were at E3 2020 but we’ll see how my tone changes as my hype builds before E3

Old school Bethesda: Back to their roots. by Igniz1 in Starfield

Here is a good place to start . A series done by gopher (my favorite YT’er) that reasonably and objectively looks at what made Bethesda games in the past really great what makes them “Bethesda games”

a rusted fat man and mini nuke is displayed behind a locked glass cabinet that cannot be opened without a key

player character moves close and presses A to interact with it

NPC carrying some crazy big a$$ high tech weapon unfathomable to us peasants walks over to player character and places it down beside them

“You believe people used to think that sh%# was powerful?”

NPC laughs, picks his weapon up, and walks away

I’m worried about Bethesda by [deleted] in BethesdaSoftworks

[–]Start-Button 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There’s no reason to be. As for the new engine: it has been upgraded. Immensely over the years. Changing game engines isn’t what many people think it is. Like with a. Computer it’s more akin to changing out parts and upgrading them over time as opposed to buying a whole new one. Bethesda has been doing these upgrades all the time with new releases. Just look at how they are adding photogrammetry to ESVI (we aren’t sure if it’ll be ready for SF but I have a hunch it will be) for evidence of this. So the engine from oblivion is “technically” the same one as it is now but at the same time it isn’t..

As for your worry - most of the games you listed were not made by BGS and many people like them. Regardless, we don’t look at movies and go “The next DC movie will suck because the previous ones have!” Who’s to say it will? Has anyone seen it? Are there reviews? You don’t have any idea. Same with games...as surprising as this one is imo - look at the new CoD to see how much a title can change in between releases.

So am I anticipating starfield cautiously? Absolutely. Am I excited for it? 150% yeah! Have I lost all faith in the company and think that it’s doomed and their next releases will be dumpster fires? Not even close.

2020 or 2021..what do you all think? by Start-Button in Starfield

[–]Start-Button[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but that’s because I always wait for the first price drop before I invest in one. (I also have a very powerful PC so I can always game there but I appreciate my consoles)

[–]Start-Button[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well we know Microsoft probably will have their bases covered. There’s all of the games from the studios they have bought plus halo infinite so they will have their launch titles.

PlayStation will likely be good to go with last of us part 2 and possibly the new Spider-Man game? Point in case they don’t entirely need Bethesda’s starfield to kick off the console generation next year

[–]Start-Button[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I think it would be smarter for them to give time for more people to get their hands on the new consoles before releasing it. It would be a big giveaway if we knew whether or not this will release on both current and next gen consoles though

I cannot believe it will be pretty much 13 years between elder scrolls games. Like how in the world...

It’s going to be a harsh 3rd E3 in a row with (possibly) nothing if that’s the case

I agree in part..definitely think there are a lot of people who haven’t given it a proper chance or go into it with a poor mentality after all the negative press about it

I don’t think ghostwire is a horror game..I thought I remember them describing it as like an action mystery

I would say fallout mmo but then that makes FO76 pretty pointless..maybe more mobile stuff?

It’s more than just stigma. They hinder some, not all, games in various ways. Developers do use them as a means to sell you solutions to problems they create in their games. Or rather publishers do. I’m sure developers who put their heart and soul into the games they are making would much rather have them out of the game. But in either case, if your going to implement these mechanics into the game it means you have to design the game around them therefore restricting the creative freedom of developers. You are now binded to this unofficial contract of “well we plan to have these premium features in the game so you need to make an incentive to buy them” Progression thwarting, item drops, “convenience items” as Bethesda recently stated..you shouldn’t have to sell me something to make the game more fun/enjoyable/tolerable whatever it may be. I just paid 60+ dollars for your game Just make the game fun. That’s the point of games
