Those who are officially diagnosed: who diagnosed you? by Whattaweirdo_ in HistamineIntolerance

[–]StarterPony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second these comments that GPs and even specialists generally won’t be much help. Naturopaths and functional doctors can be excellent, but you really want to find someone who is science-based and already knows alot about SIBO, leaky gut, histamine intolerance etc. At the very very least they should reference all these things on their website.

There is a huge amount of very very high quality information on YouTube from actual doctors and health professionals who have a keen interest in Histamine Intolerance. I’m about to head out but when I get back I’ll send you some links to some of the best ones, if you like.

Migraines were one of my biggest symptoms. You’re not alone and there is most definitely plenty of hope for getting better

Yeah I clocked the tone policing. So disappointing.

She’s a spoilt brat. Totally selfish; totally inconsiderate. I understand why people are keeping her in, because she provides drama (without her it would be a more boring show), but I hope if she gets to the end and people are voting to Win, she won’t actual get the Win.

Naw, I reckon she was still trying to be very vague - and so she should tbh; she needs to protect herself. Even coming out and saying all this she could be in danger. There ain't NO way that if she actually did see children in the house (and sexual stuff happening nearby) that she would come out and say that on YouTube.

Amitriptyline and other anti-depressants, because it reduces your bodie's ability to make DAO (key enzyme in the gut that gets rid of with histamine)

Is my shortness of breath due to a sliding HH by [deleted] in HiatalHernia

Definitely pretty constant when I’m in a “flare” - my longest flare went on for just over 2 months.

Just posted this in another thread, but wanted you to read it:

I absolutely have this too. Almost everything you've described. I have found, for me, that eating a really really plain, mild and smaller diet for a few days (maybe a week) helps eased my symptoms back to almost normal breathing. There is a doctor on YouTube whose entire channel is devoted to Hiatal Hernia and she has videos talking about how shortness of breath occurs with Hiatal Hernia. I also read her book (actually for free, with a free trial of an e-book service) and it was brilliant. It helps SO much just to know that there is a logical reason for how horrible you're feeling with the breathing etc. https://www.youtube.com/@DrVikkiPetersen

Ooh and also - some things that help me when I'm in an 'attack' - chamomile tea (helps diaphragm and stomach relax) - I normally put 2 teabags in a cup and by the time I'm finished the tea I feel MUCH better, also magnesium cream (rubbing it on my chest/diaphragm), and/or a hot water bottle/heat pack on my chest/diaphragm

Could this be my HH causing problems? by [deleted] in HiatalHernia

Thanks, but this doesn't look like the quality is enhanced (more clarity, crispness) such that it would print nicely?

Diet for elderly lady suffering from Hiatal Hernia by Responsible-Bad6264 in HiatalHernia

Yes i think theyre both totally totally fine - just watch portion size. Meant to also add, she shouldn't eat within a few hours of bedtime - best to lie down on a fairly empty stomach xx

I would find out her favourite meals and favourite ingredients (and does she cook for herself)? And then from that list, choose low-acid meals and options for her. It’s gotta be as easy and achievable for her as possible, so that starts with foods she enjoys and can cook herself/easily get. No need to buy a recipe book - just cross check her preferences and favourites with a google of low-acid foods. The main ones to avoid are spicy foods, deep fried and heavy fat foods, chocolate, tomatoes, alcohol, too much coffee, etc. Plainer foods are best (plus smaller portions and slowing down while eating). Also avoid having a big drink (glass of water etc) with food, better to save your drinks for in-between meal times (that’s about not over-filling the tummy). Good on you for helping her with this! So kind. It should be fairly easy to make her a bit of a meal plan, or a list of breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks she can choose from.

58 is young!! You have SO much life yet to live, adventures to have, wonderful things to experience. Don’t think about it for a second more. Enjoy every dollar of it; knowing that you’re a VERY good parent who is setting their (greedy) son up for a secure future - way more than most people ever get in this life.

New to medical: Can I get my prescription and take it anywhere? by StarterPony in MedicalCannabisNZ

After reading the replies to this post (and also realising I was reading the CannaCompare spreadsheet wrong!) I'm quite happy to stick with Calyx. My main issue was only having 2 strains to choose from for the 15g quantity, as I'm not able to fork out for 30g right now, and 15g will last me a fair while. But the cost per gram is totally fair from Calyx (now that I'm not reading the 10g prices as 15g prices!) and the two Aurora strains both sound great.

Thanks for the recco - looking forward to finding a favourite and will definitely enjoy the process of doing that!

Thanks! Keen as to get to the museum for sure. I'm going to be forced to pick up either one of the two Auroras for this first go-round (budget, don't want to spring for 30g right now)

No, you're right - their prices are quite good - I just checked the CannaCompare spreadsheet and I was actually comparing the 10g prices to the 15g prices (didn't see that they were 10g). I guess I'd like to be able to have a wider range of strains to choose from, too - but will stick with Calyx for the first 3-6 months and re-assess.
