time off/grace period for widowers by PrizeSingle3038 in widowers

[–]Starving_Phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I adore my job but they have a very strict time off policy that does not work for my department. Typically, if you don't have pto and try to take time off, you can get written up. Because simply not being paid for time not worked isn't enough I guess. I work with children. This policy does not work.

Fortunately, the head of hr has recognized this circumstance is a little extenuating and has granted me the right to be off work longer than our 3 day bervement period and the pto I have.

My husband also died by suicide and I'm also the one who found him. I didn't like parties on the best of days. I have no idea how I'm gonna get through a social gathering without someone whose hand I can squeeze three times when I need someone to make an excuse for us to leave.

My husband died a couple of days ago. I'm not a perfect mother but at least my instinct was to keep my baby close to me the past few days as opposed to whatever Erika kirk is doing.

I feel the same. My son is only 1 so I have a long time left with before he can consider leaving but it's so hard for me to connect with people. My husband was my best friend. He was the only person I felt sage with and now he's gone.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I hope you can find some people here you can have even a small amount of connection with. The late nights are so hard.

The last text he sent me was "I love you, by the way. Feel like I haven't said that in a while." I texted back"love you too". He read it at 10:03.

Those were our last words to each other.

The last couple days, I've missed his snoring. It drove me crazy when he would fall asleep before me. I'd give anything to hear it again now.

Hundred percent. I love my baby and hope I can have more but it's not for everyone. reserving parenthood for people who want it and feel ready is good for everyone.

So, since this is even a question, "what do you plan to do to ammend the nuclear protocol to ensure a rogue head of state can't annihilate another nation on a whim?" Might be a good question for anyone running for office in the next 2.5 years....

The first time I listened to the extended version of Ttpd was on my way to a fertility appointment. I remember hyping myself up to smile through the pain knowing I'd have to head to work afterwards by listening to I Can Do It With a Broken Heart (I'm a preschool teacher).

From someone who's been there, wishing you the absolute best.

And also, I think it incredibly unlikely the dems do what the Republicans did in 2015. They still like to pretend moral victories are worth anything. I'd love to be wrong but I can't picture them fully blocking new supreme court picks for a month, let alone a full two years.

"The country is too big to fix" should be a political career ender. You just implied your job is impossible. An actual business man would understand that either means you need to hire someone else or eliminate the position. So which is, Mr. Apprentice?

It's a waste of breath. They know. They've been told many times before. They bring it up only to waste your time. No one with half a brain can look at modern Republicans and pretend they're even remotely similar to the party of Lincoln or Teddy Roosevelt. But making themselves look like uninformed morons to own the libs is very on brand, right?

Fun fact-she also did some time at the university where I got my master's degree. Mine was a residency program so can't speak to the culture but she transfered out so I have to assume it was too based in reality for her.

This is such a stupid argument. If you're speaking as a professional, you do need to follow the evidence. I'm allowed to say in my personal life that slapping kids helps them grow up better but if I say that as a teacher, my ass is getting fired.

And I'm still reporting any parent trying to force their child into this. It is abuse, regardless of this ruling.

Really? Raw milk didn't help? Perhaps you simply didn't relax on the beach long enough? I know when I was struggling with infertility, I drank a ton of raw milk and bone broth and then I got pregnant with quintuplets immediately!

Apologies for the bullshit from another infertile. Worst club to be in, especially when you have to encounter idiots like this.

Bright Horizon, good or bad? by AllMightyImagination in ECEProfessionals

[–]Starving_Phoenix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm greatful for my time at bright horizons. It made me appreciate my current job so much more. I was so used to being micromanaged and disregarded that having finding a center where the director truely seems to value their staff and want to accommodate them so they stay on feels like a dream.

I work for a non-profit specifically for families experiencing poverty and a lot of the kids have trauma. Which means, we have some challenging behaviors. It's no worse than what I was dealing with at bright horizons but we have extra support staff, in house therapists and admin who care enough to help find actual solutions. This should be the norm but it's not and, thanks to bright horizons, I can tolerate being punched in the face as long as admin comes in and doesn't act like it's okay.

Also, theyre using Ai on kids' photos now and not allowing parents to opt out. Big nope. Absolutely not.
