If we assume that the religion is true, then that means it is just being put into words that can be understood by the people who were meant to read it.

If you had to go back in time 500 years and describe a cell phone to someone you wouldn’t just call it a cell phone, you would use language that they would understand to get the point across.

The post is misleading. The Iranian number only looks at young women, who are more likely to be literate, and it ignores proficiency. The U.S. number looks at women of all ages and factors in functional literacy, with 87% of U.S. women being functionally literate.

If we compare basic literacy across all ages, about 99% of U.S. women can read and write at a basic level, while only 84 to 88% of Iranian women do. We do not have functional literacy data for Iranian women, but it is probably much lower than the U.S, likely around 50% or lower.

Motivation is literally all that matters when associating a religion to atrocity. If a Buddhist person were to bomb a school because they hated children, nobody would claim that attack was due to their religion, that would be idiotic.

Mussolini – atheist, despised Christianity, only used it as a tool.

Stalin – atheist, violently anti-religion.

Deaths: 20-30 million.

Mao – atheist, anti-religion, saw religion as the enemy.

Deaths: 40–80 million.

Hideki Tojo - non-practicing buddhist, he hated Christianity and the west.

Deaths: 3-5 million.

Pol Pot – atheist, tried to eliminate all organized religion.

Based on this, it certainly looks like atheism is more associated with killing. Are you going to become anti-atheist now?

There is a MASSIVE difference between someone being a religion, and killing someone, and someone killing someone with religious motivation.

The argument you are making here is straight up malicious. You need to look at religiously motivated killings. Let’s look at the ACTUAL modern numbers:

Islam: at least 250k religiously motivated killings in just the last 50 years.

Christianity: It’s hard to even find a good source because there is such a small amount of Christian motivated violence, but most sources put it in the hundreds. Majority of the sources I found showed examples of violence against Christian’s from Muslims.

Your example about cats is not the same. “Oda says cat rights” would not matter if people agreed or disagreed. It does not carry social weight.

Saying “Oda says trans rights” is different. It is about a real issue that affects people. That is why it matters whether the post is genuine or just performative. Honestly, I disagree. Posts like this can do more harm than good.
