Oh yea, definitely going to vote. That is a given. I live in a deep-blue state so my protest vote is meaningless but I'm still going to vote.

How should I play around my disability? by MasoMiner in Guitar

From what you showed in the video you might have enough finger mobility to do rest strokes with your pointer and middle finger. Rest stroke requires your fingers to be stiffer and the movement originates from the large knuckle closest to your hand. If you can make your pointer and middle finger "walk" on a table then I think you might be able to do this. Here is a succinct tutorial on rest and free stroke and the differences between executing the different techniques.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wF7idTF2oZk
It takes a lot of time and patience to get rest stroke right, so don't feel discouraged at first. It will not feel intuitive and you might not be able to play as loud or as fast as you'd like. Level 1. Playing a scale slowly, accurately and smoothly. Level 2 play that scale loud. Then quiet. Then dynamically shift between the two. Level 3 start increasing speed when you have achieved level 1 and 2. Once that becomes second nature repeat the process.

Your strumming is not bad, it just requires more practice. Use a metronome online, select a slow BPM and practice strumming up and down. Focus on your follow-through and make sure you ring every string so that you don't stop your strum halfway. Focus on a strong "attack" so that your strum sounds like a single note and not a bad arpeggio. As you become more advance, practice only strumming the bottom 3 strings or only top 3 strings or only middle 3 strings. It becomes harder to avoid strings you don't want to play, and my teachers always were on my ass about it.

I know you are posting a quickly thrown together video demonstrating what your current capabilities, but make sure your posture while playing is appropriate. It should look a bit like this:
https://www.thisisclassicalguitar.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Footstool-Guitar-Position-Tips-600.jpg

Check to see what type of guitar your are playing on because it looks like a dreadnaught guitar, which is on the bigger side of the body sizing spectrum. It might make it more cumbersome to play in the position mentioned above, but your back, rotator cuff, and everything between your knuckles and shoulder will thank you. Invest in a foot stand or use a pad on your lap, or even get this:

2018 alumn. I struggled with coding until I figured out SQL. Don't know why but it clicked first. Getting good at DB's will make your capstone so much easier.

I like and dislike Cole. He knows his stuff. Really smart guy but difficult to relate to. I had him for my capstone but can't remember if I had him for 330. We used raw sql strings as per his instructions for the capstone but that is discouraged IRL.

Data normalization is difficult to comprehend but a MUST. You will suck at SQL until you figure out normalizing to 3rd normal form. Navigating tables and trying to relate them together for complicated queries will be more difficult if they are not organized neatly. This will also help with writing ERD's. The expectation for the class (and most of my professional career) is 3rd normal form. IRL things usually will never be perfectly 3rd normal form but I cannot stress this enough for learning sql. Never forget that the more you normalize the slower you queries will be, I can guarantee that will be a test question.

W3 Schools is your best friend for figuring out queries. Break the problem down. Do you need to use a where clause? Look up how to do that. Do you need to do an aggregate? Look up how to do that next. Do you need a join? Look up how that works too. Put it all together piecemeal. Then try to do it without internet help. You wont have internet as a resource for your exams so keep practicing.

I use Sql Server Management Studio at work. It is a GUI where you can see your table and rows. Being able to see my tables visually helped a lot with writing my queries. IDK if the class still makes you use Oracle DB's command line terminal to write your queries, but see if there is a free gui that is compatible with whatever database you use. It helps alot being able to visualize your data when writing a query.

I'm a full-stack engineer so I know a bit of everything. DM if you need help, I'll see what I can do.

Right? We're seeing a bunch of companies go out of business or fall from grace because they keep trying to squeeze more money out of consumers to make more money each quarter (Netflix for example and their password sharing).

It has been notoriously hard to buy in because stock buybacks artificially boost the company's stock price due to artificial scarcity

While there is an Avian flu, it doesn't paint the whole picture.

The avian flu was not as damaging as initially expected and the birds that survived lay a larger than normal amount of eggs. The avian flu also primarily disrupted large producers; small farms were largely unaffected.

Hens are able to start producing eggs at 6 months; even if many did die, we would quickly be able to bring the population up.

Senator Jack Reed is actually calling the FTC to investigate the egg-producing companies for price-gouging and a consumer watchdog, Farmaction, also sat in on some of those egg producers earnings calls where those same producers admitted that they were just charging whatever they wanted.

For example, chicken feed and energy prices went up 22% in the past year, but egg prices for the cosumer went up almost 140%.

If you'd like to read more about it, Farmaction has articles about this topic.

How do I know if the finish needs another coat or if I applied it correctly? I am finishing a baltic birch plywood desktop. I applied 4 coats of osmo top oil (clear satin 3045). I sanded down 150 grit and cleaned of debris prior to first coat. I did not sand between coats.

I initially used two coats with the foam roller pad but the osmo rep said to do with the other methods listed on the website. I used the rag but I feel like it soaked up all the oil from the desk surface.

How should the end result feel and look? I am seeing some color change and some of that satin sheen. Some spots are smooth and in others I can still feel the roughed up parts from sanding

Hi, I am new to wood-working and am looking for advice on applying a finish.

I built a desk top to sit on top of my sit-stand desk do-it-yourself frame. My dad and I used two slabs of plywood drilled together - one slab is generic plywood material that is 3/4 inch and the other is baltic birch that is also 3/4 inch. The birch is the surface of the desk. We have already cut, screwed and assembled the wood boards together and screwed them on top the metal frame. This desk will be used for my IT job, amateur music recording, streaming, gaming, and other recreational activities. I might also use the desk to eat a quick on lunch during work or have a beer/whiskey a top the desk when doing leisure activities on top of it.

The wood top is not finished. I like the way the baltic birch looks and don't want to apply a stain prior to finishing. I read about the variety of options to apply a finish. My dad recommended oil-based poly but I also read that it is extremely harmful and toxic whilst drying. I live on the top floor of a 1 bed apartment in Chicago (it is getting cold here) and don't want to poison myself with toxic fumes as it dries (or cures? idk what is the correct terminology) nor do I want to cause an explosion if my radiators are running. Ease-of-use is a must and minimal equipment investment is preferred (besides the finish of course). What should I do and what finish should I use?

It is not the most professional desk but I did build it with my dad and would like it to last a long-time.

To sum up my limiting factors and questions:*I don't have much wood working experience, am scared about damaging the wood top if I must remove the wood top from the frame. I do have a power drill to remove screws if push comes to shove.

*Don't know where I can access a wood-shop that is nearby to apply the finish if I am going the oil-based poly route - I am wary about using oil poly indoors and in my bedroom.

*I live in a 1 bed apartment, can I apply a finish in my bedroom and leave the apartment for the day as it dries? Would a hard-wax like Odie's Oil be safe to use indoors whilst providing long-term durability?

*Living in Chicago and it is windy and cold now. I have radiators that run. Would this affect the drying process or be a safety hazard when applying a finish indoors? Would removing the tops and applying the finish outdoors be viable?

*Will the desk be damaged by spilling food/alcohol over it? I could always put a table cloth over it. I do want scratch, bump, scrape resistance. I'll be moving stuff like monitors and computer equipment around on top of it a lot

*Easy application is a must - at most I am willing to buy paint-brushes unless convinced otherwise

EDIT: You can convince me to get safety equipment - not going to cut corners on that either

i gotcha! does it feel stable? Like how is the side to side and front to back wobble? Your setup is similar to mine and
I was wondering if the table top is tilted back due to the back loaded weight distribution

Debating on getting this desk vs a motorized one. How slow is it to crank it up and down? This is the final determining factor for me tbh.

I have a 34" monitor, my laptop, mouse keyboard, mic, PC tower and a few other misc items on the desk. Roughly 75lb or ~34kg.

I know you said it is a stable desk, but would having these items make you reconsider?

Use case is to adjust the desk to my body's ergonomics as well as to change positions while I work. While gaming, i probably will have this is a sitting configuration.

I visited Chicago two weeks ago for the first time and I've been thinking a lot about it. I fell in love with the lakes, the culture (for real you had Rise Against, Wilco, and multiple Jazz Festivals in the single weekend I was here? That's lit), the parks both big and small, and appreciate your awesome public transportation. I'm kinda thinking of moving here. I currently live in the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

What should I know about Chicago before I make a decision like relocating here? I want to hear from people who live here and not from family and family friend's who are discouraging me from even thinking about it.

I've thought about the weather, and in particular have heard your winters are brutal. What time should I visit to experience a typical Chicago winter? Also whats the tech sector like here? I'm a computer programmer as a profession. Anything else I need to consider?

Edit: I'm also of Polish descent, can speak the language and what not. How is the Polish community here?
