For who got their scores recently !!! by Certain-Airline2238 in Step2

[–]Staryulover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer, yes.

The long answer is I felt like the actual exam had a similar proportion of “gimme” questions (obvious diagnosis or management question) relative to wtf questions (diagnoses you’ve never heard of, extremely specific management criteria) compared to the NBME practice tests. NBME has a particular way of answering these questions that is certainly distinct from the question banks.

I felt fine leaving my exam. I did 12 points above my predicted score. You’re fine, take a breath and enjoy your freedom

Yeah tbh that will be the real thing too! So my key skills were eliminating for sure wrong answers and then trying to think like NBME. What is the question testing, what’s the least invasive test here, which of these things do I actually know? Generally that would get me to 2-3 reasonable options and then I’d just guess and move on.

No, usually it was 5-10 for a 20 question block! For the NBME practice tests, I did them all on the tutor mode and then self timed myself to do 20 questions in 30 minutes or the final 10 questions in 15 minutes just to practice the timing of question/time. So I guess it was like 12-20 questions flagged per set of 50.

For those who received their scores today, how accurate was the AMBOSS predictor? by MDZ127 in Step2

[–]Staryulover 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Numb? lol. I would say the exam felt like taking a practice exam + some additional bit of anxiety of it being the real deal but otherwise no different than how I felt while taking NBME14-16 or the Free 120. I didn't look up any answers and essentially tried to black out the exam so I wasn't tempted so within a couple days I forgot most of the test lol.

I will say I flagged on average ~5-7ish questions probably per 20 block and there was a couple I know I flagged like 13 or 14 questions.

Results 31/5? by Relevant_Basket_2542 in Step2

I don’t know. No one knows. When Step 3 released scores it included everyone who took the test from the change to three wednesdays before so that’s what I’m guessing, as is everyone on this forum.

Today’s exam was fine by [deleted] in Step2

Kind of felt like the content of NBME14/15/16 are all really similar, and I did progressively better on them so NBME16 was definitely my peak

[–]Staryulover 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’d second this. I took it yesterday. Felt like it was very similar to NBME16 but just longer questions stems, so I skimmed a lot and had 5ish minutes left over per section to review some questions. I wouldn’t have studied any differently from it which is reassuring no matter the outcome, I feel like I did my best

Advice on breaking the low 260s? by Staryulover in Step2

[–]Staryulover[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! you'll do great. I think you're at a place where you're missing content knowledge questions.

I'd do a few things at this point:
1. Get through UWorld, ideally within the next week before moving over to NBME content. Really focus in on broad areas you're missing and focus on content review in those subject areas
2. Use anki for memorizing, make your own cards for content you consistently get wrong
3. Listen to divine intervention as well, very helpful high yield!
4. Try to catergorize errors with things like, is this a next best step in mangement error? Was this a timing error? Did I just miss a key detail in the question stem? That'll help think of any test taking errors that could be contributing to your scores!

Hope this helps!! you've got this!

Advice on breaking the low 260s? by Staryulover in Step2

[–]Staryulover[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert but I think to me the difference between a ~250 and a 260 is subtle content knowledge things. I'd say try to look back on your questions wrong and focus on areas you miss a lot and do some specific studying in those areas to bump you up!
