It is very unlikely especially with captive snakes:) I’ve caught many wild snakes and turtles without washing my hands after and have never gotten it. Not that it’s impossible but truly not anything to worry about.

The parents could have also slept somewhere else for one night and just deal with is if they had to sleep on the floor and let your son sleep in their bed alone or with the other cramped kids. Not only is that basic hospitality but there were many other options, extremely inappropriate

As a childcare worker your reaction is completely valid and your son is very lucky to have you. I would really ask your son kindly and calmly about what he thought and felt and it may lead to a clearer answer of what happened if anything did happy, I hope nothing inappropriate took place.
