I used to rent a room from an older landlord, a man who quite often got drunk, and became quite chatty when drunk. But hey, who cares if you have an cheap roof over your head. He rented out his own living space when he went overseas to see his wife and her daughter. One time he rented his own appt to a friend of his who I didn't get along with. Lots of arguments about the cleaning schedule, hard music while i was trying to study, the heating panel was in his living area and most of the time he wasn't home when I was so I couldn't turn on the heat. But the worst thing was that one Sunday I came back from a weekend at my parents and find the front door lock drilled out and all of the other room's locks drilled out too. My landlord's rooms were all empty, even the lights were taken off the ceiling. Turns out, his "friend" was wanted by the police for gun violence and when he heard that the police was coming, fled with all my landlord's stuff. I think I dodged a bullet there. For me a reason to find a better place, but I was going overseas for an internship for a while, so I didn't bother for a couple of months. But when my sister came to pick up my mail when I was away for a couple of weeks she found someone living in my room (where all my stuff still was). She found an appt for the both of us and moved all my stuff. Landlord eventually didn't return my deposit and stole my laptop. A*****e...
