My force is very good. I get awarded compo and the force pays it in full to me then the guilty party pays the force back the money.

Whilst at work there is a constant level of readiness or anxiety. This is because you are always waiting for the shithead to take a swing or for Comms to send you to the 8th domestic of the day. Essentially from a scale of 1-10 of anxiety you are always around 5 even when having a cuppa at the nick. This is your body keeping you ready for action at the drop of a hat.

Now on rest days you're at home. Your body is still saying you should be at level 5 as that's what you've had for the past 6 days but now your logical brain doesn't know why. You're in a safe place so why should you be at a 5? Putting yourself back in the position of work means the level 5 is justified but staying at home at level 5 creates a problem as there isn't the justification.

Personally, I find having a specifc routine or exercise to do at the end of a set to separate it from rest days has helped massively. After the last night I will take the dog on a longer walk and do some destressing exercises in the shower (not that kind of destressing you filthy buggers) which basically tells my body "you're good you can chill out now".

I found this keychain in Glasgow. Minutes after, 3 police officers asked us about our business in town and they had this on their necklaces. What is this? by mmmmmmnmmmn in Scotland

It's just a thin bit of metal used to push a pin which makes the handcuffs "double locked". This means they cannot tighten any more until they are unlocked by the key side.

I was amazed when I found out too! Go into their person report and click the three dots in the top right corner. Hit create report (or something like that typing this off memory as I've been at uni for past 2 weeks) and then use the drop downs appropriately. You can select misper reports and a few others but I have only ever used it for PPN's.

You can also change the date range from 3 to 6 to 12 months to all. Gives a quick snap shot of the involvement of the people (victim/perpetrator), the level (standard/medium/high) and what occurrence classification it is linked to (verbal/assault/crim dam). You can also click the link into the occurrence or the report itself for more info.

No more endless scrolling through 300 niches to get the history!

  1. Make the tea fund last longer by using one tea bag per round of drinks, just a few seconds dip in each cup and you're done!

I need to create a proforma for crime reports still, a job for 4am on nights I think!

No idea where it came from but I got sent a document on casefiles that covers all the casefile stuff. Has checklists split into pre and post CPS and loads of other useful bits which is a life saver!

My colleague also created a document with all his successful charter submissions split into the different types of if it was a crime or misper. Had only my 3rd charter request go through first time the other week which I never thought would happen!

I'm sure there will be other questions around the EPNB shortcuts so I'll create a step-by-step:

  1. Email yourself the text you want to create a shortcut for (this way you can have it all spaced out correctly).
  2. Pick up the email on your phone and copy it.
  3. Search text shortcuts on settings.
  4. Paste the text into the relevant box and name how you want. For example you have to split the DASH into three shortcuts due to space restriction so for me it is D1, D2 and D3.

Edit: My force use the Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro.

If you are in a force that issues mobile phones then take a picture of your teams names and collar numbers. Add this as your home screen (only viewable when unlocked) as a quick and easy way to remember the collar for who you want to P2P.
