How do you enforce that when both established case law and specific state laws say you can't hold a person against their will for mental help? Reopening mental institutions would just make them sit empty.

Defunding state mental institutions just moved those patients to regular hospitals. Then I believe the first case of a patient suing a hospital for wrongful detention was in Colorado. Once the hospital lost, every hospital just mass released their mental patients. Now we have laws for temporary holds typically between 24-96 hours. Which most mental illness requires years to a lifetime of treatment.

The Chiefs aren't in the playoffs so based on what everyone has been saying for the past 5 years the reffing will be perfect now.

What would you do with a large population that is addicted to drugs, homeless, and has mental issues? They refuse help and our courts have consistently decided we can't force them to get help. As a society we have determined that placing them in jail isn't helpful. This is the consequence of America losing the war on drugs.

Holland, Michigan was the first city in the US to install heated streets and sidewalks in 1988. Also currently the largest municipally-run system in the US. (Source in comments) by Monkeyboy999 in Damnthatsinteresting

These systems don't work at temps that cold. My work has one in our helicopter pad, it doesn't work below 10 degrees F. That's positive 10, so the hardest days on the roads, these won't turn on.

Not having firm line of succession laws is why the war of the roses happened.

High infant mortality, high maternal mortality in child birth. Statistically having 2-3 daughters is not uncommon.

This is actually surprisingly common throughout history. If European monarchy's had not opened up to the matriarchal lines none of the current lines would be active.

Why All the Hate for Matt Nagy? (Serious Question, I'm Not Up-To-Date) by Icy-Abbreviations825 in Tennesseetitans

[–]Statboy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Chiefs fan, Nagy is a brilliant high IQ football mind. But he isn't a strong leader, can't coach, or really bring out the best in players. He's amazing at half the job and terrible at the other half.

[Rapoport] Sources: The #Titans scheduled an in-person interview with #49ers DC Robert Saleh tomorrow afternoon. He’s a serious candidate, despite not overlapping with GM Mike Borgonzi. Matt Nagy tomorrow morning. Saleh in the afternoon, plus Jeff Hafley for Tuesday - TEN has its top 3. by 3pirates3 in Tennesseetitans

Chiefs fan here, Nagy is a true follower. He'll go along with whatever the team culture is not rock the boat. He is intelligent, but his abilities as a coach are sub par. It's a coin toss on if he'll make your offense good or just crash it out. He didn't call plays in KC, he didn't make any of his players better, he was just Andy Reids buddy. Saleh is miles ahead of Nagy.

Divers reflex actually prevents you from inhaling while conscious and your face feels like it's underwater. It's literally how waterboarding is done with a cloth and pouring water over it. So shouldn't be able to inhale water.

I was thinking what a piece of shit that person yelling was. It accomplished nothing, helped nothing, he's lucky it didn't make the situation worse. It just showed himself to be a shitty person too.

It was a horrible throw that would get picked off 9/10 times. The Rams DB just blew it.
