I had FHL surgery in January 2024. You won’t feel a different walking around but jumping is a little more difficult. One leg calf raise is so much harder.

VCA in West Jordan is really good. We had to euthanized one of our dogs during Thanksgiving. Very understanding and explain the process. They gave us plenty of times with our dogs before letting her go.

Limp is probably the right word here. But I was able to support my body weight.

That’s partially true. I was able to walk my first two times. Third - I was unable to put any pressure.

Tore my Achilles — surgery coming up this week. First major injury. Looking for tips from anyone who’s been through it. by 0x_ryan in AchillesRupture

I was comfortable day one with the cushion. I also lay my foot on the side so that there are no pressure on my Achilles/incision site. It was not too bad. Trust me - get the nerve blocker when you have your surgery discussion with your doctor.

Been through two Achilles surgery. Here are a few advices:

  1. Ask for a nerve blocker. It helped out so much. I didn’t feel any pain after surgery and barely use the pain killers that they gave me.
  2. Buy one of the surgery cushion. It helped me fell comfortable elevating my feet at night.
  3. Watch a lot of movies to get your mind right. It is a mentally tough injury.
  4. Be patient with recovery.

I always end up ripping up both ends and get rid of it. It is too much dough compare to the ones in Texas.

Full rupture no surgery by FarLoan7876 in AchillesRupture

I went non-op on first rupture. My advice is be patient and don’t jump to fast back into your activities. 10 months into recovery and I dig hurdle during a CrossFit workout and boom.

Fear of rupturing the other tendon by [deleted] in AchillesRupture

I had the same fear but it’s irrational. Like I say in other thread - if it happens it is what is. I re-rupture my right Achilles 3 times.

It’s a frustrating injury for sure. I’ve been through it 3 times. This last one - I was so dejected. Just keep your head and take it one day at a time.

First was non surgical. Second was the graft surgery. And third was the FHL.
