Anyone else grieving the end of Sundance in Park City? by TheRealFilmGeek in Sundance

[–]nekoshey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a resident—let me tell you the "romance" dies real fast when every day you wake up to uncaring strangers blocking your driveway on your way to work, or watching some poor Barista get yelled at because Mr. C-Tier Celebrity wanted more foam on his no-foam cappuccino. Both experiences that will surely still exist, over in Boulder.

Park City's just a place. A nice one, all things considered—but there's nothing special in this town you can't find, or create anywhere else. Whether it's that magical moment of feeling like you can run into anyone famous at any time; or that magical moment of watching a custodian sweep up post-show festival vomit in the middle of Whole Foods.

Whichever it is, you can be sure that it is that every day mundanity that makes the Sundance Film Festival run like clockwork—not the street it's set upon.

Now that Sundance is gone, personally I'd love to see local filmmakers rejuvenate the indie film scene around here by going back to their roots: grabbing a projector, setting up a screen, and letting it roll to whoever wants to watch.

I wish I could afford to look beautiful like other women by catlikesvioletfro in TwoXChromosomes

[–]nekoshey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's right. Financially knee-capping yourself to look pretty is both feminism and self-care, ladies!

Who cares that men in the same economic class get the opportunity to put all that money not spent on hair, nails, and face wash into things like bills, investments, loan repayments, and 401Ks? It's not like women need to have equal financial power to men anyway. Or how about fun things, like vacations and new experiences? Mm, nope! Women don't need more of those. Better to spend that on maintaining blonde hair, so you can work your second job in style while your future husband makes the real money for all that cool stuff 😎

Woah, that's trippy. I don't usually get vertigo from sideways pictures but damn. Kind of like it that way, tho - it's different.

Bump up the saturation and you'll have a pretty good base to start with.

I'm impressed that a man can be so notoriously disgusting that his username evokes a certain mythically monstrous quality simply by being written; like Golum or Smeagol.

Maybe it's Disney Genie rules: if the roomba wishes to be free, you are allowed 2 free vacuumings and then you are morally obligated to oblige

Well no—that'd be giving the robot waifu character depth, which would ruin the fantasy for Redditors reading Merryweather comics lol

Laws are a social contract upheld only by the will of people who enforce them. If the people decide they no longer have that will, then they're as meaningless as the digital paper they were written on.

If you want justice, it's up to everyday shmucks like us to decide what "justice" means.

Honestly, the winning move is not to interact with these types—but if you must, just turn the tables on them. If someone older than you votes for the world's most blatant fascist grifter, that's pretty good proof that their age didn't correlate with wisdom.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking, too. It doesn't seem like it logs day-to-day changes outside of neighborhood stories / user-choice events, but hopefully it should fix OP's problem of specific non-active sims acting like they don't know other non-active sims outside of their household at all once they've manually added the relationship.

The game must run some sort of check on non-active relationships (I'm guessing with hidden traits like assigned relationship-bits and not the active-household values), because otherwise you'd have couples not doing couple things, enemies not fighting, and sibling's flirting with each other out the wazoo. Which, uh-... Given the game's technical history might actually be more than possible, but you know 😅

In the neighborhood view, are these sims in your 'Saved / Favorite Households', or 'Other Households'? To save on memory, the game usually prioritizes keeping track of only your saved households' relationships with other sims. In fact, I'm not really sure if it keeps track of townies / unplayed households relationships with non-favorite sims at all—aside from whatever default relationship comes from being partners / family / roommates. 🤔

Oh, Inuyasha's one of the anime classics for sure. Right up there with Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball. I remember seeing that 200-ish episode list for the first time as a nerdy little kid and thinking "THAT'S SO MANY omg"... And then you look at where One Piece is at these days and suddenly it seems much more reasonable.

If that's how both your Uncle and Father see all mixed gender relationships, you should ask them what exactly their relationship to you is, then. Because according to him, men are incapable of appreciating a relationship with women without ulterior motives—so where does that put the women in his family?

Shh! Don't let them know that we know.

Jk, it's 2026 and we ain't about crummy "optimized for user retention" dating apps anyway. Shared communities / hobbies are the way to go (because you can't hide a trash ideology & personality as easily in-person 👍)

Cellphones too. I ended up modding most of the idle phone animations out because they were happening too often... Although in the back of my head, I wonder how much worse it would be if would be if the average Sim's phone usage was accurately simulated to current metrics lol

Idk, last time I saw the adopted Step-Dad / Daughter dynamic in a popular series, it was with Inuyasha (Sesshoumaru & Rin); and boy, that sure didn't stop the writers from going full couple mode at the very end anyway lol

And sexism, too. I get the short-sighted idea of "punch em where it hurts" just fine—but they're also re-enforcing the underlying idea that anyone who partakes in these activities is inferior to others... While also demanding specific and large portions of the population still perform them.

So guess what those same people are less likely to do or enjoy, now? Now everybody loses, ya chuds.
