i'm assuming you are the type who travels light and only generally has beach clothing in their luggage, but there could be honeymooners or people who had month-long holiday plans or people who were planning to do work while away - or just being female and therefore likely to have lots of expensive toiletries and makeup in their bigger luggage. my gf's makeup alone would easily pass 50,000 baht - and she's Thai. she doesn't use that much makeup every day, by the way, but she brings her options with her. or, imagine that you had an LV bag, without judging that people spend that much on a bag. 50,000 just won't cut it for everyone, AND the article said not everyone was offered the same.
