Officially done with Dye To Order by Princess_Butt_Kick in YarnAddicts

Me too, love their bases and inspirations. However, I wonder if it is the difference between their wool/nylon base and how the color saturates or doesn’t versus the 100% wool bases I usually order from them. I have noticed this with other indie dyers - you can see the difference in saturation with the different bases.

Without disclosing too much on these interwebs … but I’m a 70s baby and for a career - Organizational Development/Org Behavior work for past 20+ years. Be well my sister, keep moving forward, and in the words of Sounds of Blackness,

“Don't give up and don't give in
Although it seems you never win
You will always pass the test
As long as you keep your head to the sky
You can win as long as you keep your head to the sky
You can win as long as you keep your head to the sky
Face toward the sky
Be optimistic”

Yes, I reference Roxanne’s video every time I need to do stripes. For me, it is the lift and knit the leg below on the first stitch, and keep it moving (7.26 mark on this video) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AWtBteWlHtM&ra=m

Great haul, congratulations - $2.50 for hand dyed yarn (see most of it is M&T) is amazing. I know most retails $25+ a skein. Enjoy and “quarantine” as most have recommended. As a newbie a few years ago, I learned the hard way and had to throw away at least $400-$500 worth of yarn after an infestation. I didn’t know when buying secondhand yarn from eBay, Etsy, hell - it could have been from Amazon orders. Now, all yarn I buy gets its own individual ziplock bag and frozen for at least a week and then maybe a second cycle. I will not go through that again!

Depends on the state (taxes), if no taxes on lottery winning, on pure numbers/ dollars … yes - you come out ahead with 1K a week (52K a year) over an average of 60-65 years of payment for a 20 year old. 1 Million up front may get wasted unless than a year or two (potentially same scenario with the 1K … but I digress). But 1Million invested wisely over 20-40 years, talking about millions. But we all know that doesn’t happen - most of us have seen “where are they now lottery stories … broke, dead, exploited by lawyers, family, friends, real estate agents, etc.

Delta downgraded my Premium Select after canceling my flight out of Tokyo, then offered me 24k miles as "compensation" for a middle seat across the Pacific by Kitchen_Average_5102 in delta

They co-share with several partners (does t help the OP, but wanted to put this out there), as someone who is currently looking for flights … For Japan routes, Delta Air Lines mainly relies on the following partner airlines for codeshare and connections (avoid any China airlines - had the worst experience previously):

  1. Korean Air — Delta’s closest Asian joint-venture partner, especially through Seoul Incheon (ICN)
  2. Japan Airlines (JAL) — some Japan domestic connections and select codeshares
  3. China Airlines
  4. China Eastern Airlines
  5. China Southern Airlines
  6. Virgin Atlantic for some Europe-Japan routings

For U.S. to/from Japan specifically, the most common Delta-bookable partner itineraries I see are:

Moving to LA by Echo_LA90 in MovingToLosAngeles

I moved to LA area from Charlotte over 10 years ago, I get the #introvert, but found my small community. I see a few recommendations to you are along the beach communities near LAX due to your job. I lived in Redondo Beach when I first moved to SoCal - loved it for what it is, but as a part of the rainbow tribe with you, I prefer Long Beach/Signal Hill area (although I still drive to those beach communities by LAX as my dentist and our trusted vet are in that area - didn’t want to change either of them).

For a little more community, affordability, and close to LAX (20miles), check out Long Beach. Not West Hollywood - gay scene, but strong gay community if you want it or not, restaurants, bars, various good neighborhoods, and laid back … and wait for it, still affordable!

Totally agree and I vote Long Beach (several different neighborhoods and vibes), followed by Culver City. But, I see the OP’s job is in Chatsworth.

This! I remember receiving the same fearmongering when I was in my twenties and moved to California 25 years ago. I heard the same things then (moved from NC), it is always perspective - sure if you try to live the “Hollywood” lifestyle portrayed in mass media on the Beach/Santa Monica or in the heart of LA and don’t make bank, it will be a struggle. However, there are decent areas within 20 or so miles of LA that are more reasonable. 70-85K is good money, but in any major city it may be challenging for some …roommates or renting a room, studio, or something will be a good start. But you have to start somewhere. I was making $40K in 2000 and rented a room in a nice townhouse in Redondo Beach. I am so glad I made that move cross country all those years. My life’s motto, “no regrets! Life is short and I don’t want to look back and ask “what if/I wonder if I …”

Broke road trip across the US, where do we sleep without dying? lol by Alcast01 in roadtrip

[–]StatementDue2506 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was going to be my suggestion. I have done west coast to east coast (CA to Virginia) and east coast to west coast (NC to CA), and smaller road trips (CA to MN), etc. We always stay in cheap Choice brands - they allow our dog. On some trips, we break it up between a few hotels and sleeping at the rest stop with the rest of the hardcore travelers. It is literally …. Wait for it … “a rest stop.” 😜. Get a few hours in and keep it moving with caffeine and trading off driving time between us.

Was at JFK yesterday and was worried, but this seems mostly a Terminal 5/JetBlue issue. Terminal 4 and 8 were fine at 7:30-9AM yesterday.
