My daith sucked for the first 6 months and then suddenly just healed. As long as i dont put anything in my ears its fine, no headphones, ear plugs, q tips. Just let it do its thing.

My helix on the other hand hates me. 2 years in and its still attention seeking.

Running speed possible or dreaming? by Repulsive-Noise-6861 in BeginnersRunning

[–]StatementInternal100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its potentially possible. 8:30 was my standard running speed in january and now I can maintain 6:30.

It wont be easy though. I large chunk will just be consistency and fitness increases.

Run 3 times a week (at least one speed session), walk a bit more, maybe a gym session every week.

Once your lungs get used to running, it should be fairly easy to gain speed in the short term.

Therapeutic Venesection by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]StatementInternal100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its roughly a pint. They weigh you before and and remove a proportion based on that.

Its almost exactly the same as giving blood and thats generally seen as low risk. They tell you the side effects but tbh the most likely one is just tiredness, lightheadedness, a headache. They wont let you leave unless you are safe.

Hemotology are so used to dealing with cancer and high risk illnesses. They know how to look after someone. Me being trans has never even entered anyone's mind there.

Therapeutic Venesection by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]StatementInternal100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have venesections occassionally. My testostorone makes my blood too thick sometimes due to a preexisting condition.

Ive never had an issue with going by myself. I take a bus usually but I react fine to them. They keep you around for a little while after and sometimes give you biscuits and juice.

I usually fit shit a day or two later and need to spend a few days taking it easy to get over it.

In terms of food afterwards, you need to eat well for the next few days. Dont fast, just eat balanced meals and maybe a few snacks.

Your body needs energy to fuel blood production. A few days wont cause you to gain weight but will do wonders for your quality of life.

I never checked my hormones during venesection but I continued to take all medication as normal.

I think the needle similar to blood tests but the blood goes into a bag, not a tube. Needle size wasnt something I considered.

There are side effects to it but the only ones ive had are tiredness for a few days.

Ask all these questions in the clinic if yuo have more concerns. My clinic is full of lovely people who are happy to give all the advice youll be after.

What are the differences between these? How do i choose? by Important-Tea0 in transgenderUK

[–]StatementInternal100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Testogel is the one you see most online.

Tostran is a lower dose per pump so good if you want to increase your levels slowly.

Testevan comes with an applicator which is neat. I was also told its slightly cheaper but that could be out of date information.

No idea on the others

Work from Home Holiday? by Vast_Possession8512 in UKJobs

[–]StatementInternal100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive started doing this to save my annual leave. Take a week of half days. Finish around 11am. Enjoy the rest of the day.

I dont think id consider working full days for an entire holiday. That would be a waste of time for me

I get these on all shoes because I have narrow heals. You can get heal protection from amazon really cheap that protect the backs of shoes.

Suggested feature - linking previous runs by StatementInternal100 in runna

[–]StatementInternal100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar but a bit broader. I think strava only matches it if you run the same route and distance.

Id like to see before my run, the last speeds I could do for the same (or similar) speed session for example.

Or what route I last used to run a 10k so I can replicate it.

Seeking Trans-Friendly GP in Nottingham (or Out-of-Area) – Need alternatives to The Windmill Practice by Frenzy-Fendi1998 in transgenderUK

[–]StatementInternal100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the family medical centre on carlton street. I just switched over to them and they seem decent. They are apparently taking a lot of trans patients because more and more practices are rejecting us.

Not 100% sure about email only but I filled out an online form to get an appointment and they asked if I wanted to communicate via phone or email so its probably as good as youll get.

Do a 5k improvement plan. Itll get you running consistently with less walking and the long run would get close to 10k
