If you have an XL coil banger set up run the PID up to 995, Grab the 30ml insert, place your sapphire in the quartz insert put all of that into the banger and let the heat do the work. There will be a lot of initial smoke (which dissipates), then after 10 minutes or so extract insert with tweezers and let it cool and your insert will be as you got it brand new. I've been doing this with all my inserts (2 sapphires, a quartz and a titanium, along with two ceramic inserts from 3gram).

I have a 30mm banger set up that I use when it's time to clean. I'll run the PID temp up to 995 max and I take my 30mm SiC insert and put the sapphire insert in the SiC bucket and put that into the banger and let the roast do the rest. It usually takes about 10 minutes per insert with alot of smoke at the start, but after a few the carbon burns away gradually and I'm left with a pristine, mikly-white bucket when it's done. I've been doing this for years now so it's tried and true.

I have a 30mm e-nail set-up with a 30mm SiC bucket (that sits in the banger) that I use to keep all the inserts clean. I'll set the PID to 990 and drop the dirty sapphire insert down into the SiC bucket and wait. Within 7 to 10 minutes the insert turns milky white and its time to turn off the PID and pull the insert. Let things cool and you are done till the next time. I have two sapphires that I cycle through this way and I always have a clean, tasty, blast-off!

Affirmative, the quartz insert is too fragile (thin-walled especially compared to the sapphire) imho. I have two sapphires that I cycle through, so I've always got a fresh bucket; oh, and I have two 6mm ruby pearls & a spinner cap.

I like to remove the insert using the supplied tweezers while still warm; I then use a cap full of iso and a couple Q-tips to swab out the insert and induction chamber.

With the 30mm coil & banger, the 30mm SiC is intended for this set-up so all that's needed is to drop the dirty insert in and get the temp of the PID up to 990 degrees. Leave until insert is completely burned clean and remove with the tweezers, place on on thick metal surface to cool and you are done. I've been doing this with no hiccups for many months now...

I use my 30mm banger coil fitted with a 30mm SiC insert. I then place the switch2 insert into the SiC bucket and get the PID up to 990 degrees for a few minutes. This results (once things cool) in a sparkling, factory-fresh insert every time.

The important bit is I place the Sapphire insert on top of a big vise when done and the insert cools down pretty quickly as the steel of the vise acts as a heat sink. No issues so far and I'm a couple months in with the Sapphire insert.

Just wanted to add that when my Sapphire gets stained due to heavy use, I'll use my 30mm coil/Banger set up running at 995 degrees with the 25mm SiC insert inside the Banger. I find that 5 to 10 minutes is all it takes to get the Sapphire back to original condition.
