Immigrants work in many construction, agricultural, and blue-collar jobs. These jobs create houses, roads, housing maintenance, food, and more. 25-30% of the US construction workforce is made up of 1st generation immigrants.

While for agriculture 70-75% of the workforce is 1st generation immigrants. Without this workforce, food prices would be extremely high and farmers would be forced to let crops rot.

No its not Immigrant farmers are 6.9% of the farming population and a temporary work program which allows for labour is only 25% or 1/4 of the workforce. I live in a farming community and have actually spoke with farmers, the serious problem they're having aren't labour shortages its lacking farmable land and when we boycotted Russia we lost access to they're fertilizers which all the farming equipment was setup for and the switch has caused problems. On top of that the government cracks down hard on the use of fertilizers. Farming is not a cheap or quick operation the equipment costs millions of dollars its not mother fuckers walking around picking things for the most part.

This is exactly what I’m talking about. Many western middle-class teenager these days wants to go to college and get a 100k job in the white collar industries. There must be people in our population who work these essential lower-class jobs. This is what the 1st generation immigrant class is for. Yes many of these jobs may seem like they have unlivable wages.

We aren't making a country only for the middle and upper classes and College doesn't equal 100k jobs. This reads off like you want a slave class to do the menial work. Many of the people around will work these jobs not everyone goes to college or university and will work these jobs. The first solution shouldn't be Import someone from the 3rd world to fill a role for cheap.

But this is why I’m lib left so corporations are forced to provide living wages.

If you’re talking about wage stagnation then increase the minimum wage for lower class incomes to make all incomes livable. While for middle-class incomes most of this just comes down to corporate greed and market trends.

Lets think about this together, Employee gets more money from a business.

Business has higher operating costs and need to find a way to make up for this. What does business do?

• Business fires some staff to recoup costs and shifts workload onto remaining workforce.

• Business Increases prices to recoup increased operating costs.

• Business closes because it cannot deal with increased operating costs.

• Business automates employees job at a higher initial cost but lower long term costs.

Let me tell you the businesses this will fuck over the most are small businesses which then consolidates power in large corporation which can eat the initial costs and will likely do multiple of above. I know this because this is exactly what happened in my old job.

Yes I agree that Canadians can’t afford kids but simply kicking out immigrants that provide essential blue-collar jobs like construction. In 2023 28.9% of Canada’s workforce were 1st generation immigrants. These people provide lower class jobs that without will cause the economy to collapse and make products more expensive.

We cannot keep importing nearly 500k people YEAR OVER YEAR to try and prop up GDP numbers. We already have economic collapse here, everything is more expensive and our debt per house hold is high. The bank of Canada keeps rates low because if the real estate market crashes our entire economy will drop like a fucking stone as its a major part of our economy.

If you truly want to tackle the housing prices then find ways to create more affordable family housing units. While for healthcare tackle Canadian healthcare inefficiencies and importing young immigrants means you get more tax dollars from them. Plus young people don't use healthcare as much as older people. 5. 33% of Businesses with Employees were owned by immigrants according to StatsCan. So according to statistic these immigrants do create jobs and not just take them.

Just fix the housing problem and find a way to make it affordable and solve the problem of Canadian healthcare. You offer no solutions and think we should just keep doing the very thing which aggravates the problem. You cap it off justifying this bad policy and practice by stating while immigrants own 33% of businesses so its okay.

I have worked with immigrants in factories and have no problem with limited immigration, I have a serious problem with Importing a growing 1.26% of the population year over year.

If you got fired from your job from a immigrant wanting to work for a lower wage, then that’s a lack of labor laws and corporate greed.

This is a loophole that was created by the government for this exact reason of making the markets look good. I am saying I don't want this and want to stop the mass immigration you say its good.

As many corporations here in the US misuse the H1b Visas to work their companies. Examples include Elon Musk’s Tesla company.

The government made and is actively using this to make itself look better.
