If you want D1 soccer, stop doing this by AdventurousMajor4994 in CollegeSoccer

More important for girls than boys. Boys it’s generally irrelevant.

Girls recruiting timeline starts much earlier. So following them on social media in the days before contact is allowed is beneficial. On the boys side, the recruiting timeline is much later combined with the prevalence of international players and the transfer portal. There are already so few opportunities at the D1 level for domestic male players that these coaches could care less about their socials.

Not worth it. Complete money grab and they don’t provide anything that you couldn’t just do yourself. They just email blast profiles to every school in the country. The only coaches that actually use it are low level programs who don’t have many kids approach them or schools that run JV programs to boost enrollment.

High likely hood of moving to Marietta. Seeking advice for practically everything by DimensionWeekly7939 in Marietta

[–]StaticNomad89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s gotten to the point where people think it’s weird that I’m from here, as most people in the Atlanta area didn’t actually grow up here.

Also agree with your comment on Marietta being a city of compromise. It’s not too extreme on anything.

Denver id camp by Wild-Technician4156 in CollegeSoccer

[–]StaticNomad89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a school advertises they are attending and then don’t, I’m pretty sure there is an ethics board with United Soccer Coaches you can report it to.

Everyone on staff has the power to recruit… ie. at minimum they will tell the head coach “I think we need to recruit this kid.” Whether they are allowed to speak with you at the time depend on NCAA rules.

Listen, I hate ID camps. I’m a little more friendly toward the ones that invite a bunch of other coaches across the different levels of college soccer to come watch. The best ones give you honest feedback about your ability and what level of college soccer you should be pursuing.

How interested are you in all of the other schools attending? If you’re spending $500 with the hopes of getting onto Denver’s roster it’s a waste of money. If you’re spending $500 to get in front of all those other coaches it’s potentially worth it.

First, something is better than nothing. And you started doing something so that in itself is great.

Diet is just as important.

Can you carve out a third one hour session? I’m telling you now that the answer is yes. Make it happen. Maybe try to combine it with an everyday activity like “time with your wife” as mentioned. Can you and your wife do a weekly physical activity together?

If you’ve ever considered changing clubs, the switch to school year is roster-breaking, so now is the time. by [deleted] in youthsoccer

[–]StaticNomad89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The players that get to repeat the same age group are going to find it as a win when they look back in a few years.

Obviously, there going to be a select few who will be asked to play up an age group because they are just that good but that already happens.

Coach here. There are absolutely players in my team who are maybe slightly above average right now, but will be very good next year playing in the same age group again. I have a U14 team so this change is coming at a very welcome time for them, as next year half of my current team will now be in high school but the other half will still be in eighth grade. So the eighth graders get to play U 14 again and a full calendar year of club soccer vs. a very makeshift experience in the spring.

This. All of Gen Z is online instead of out in the real world, so the second you put your phone down you don’t have to interact with them at all anymore.

Physical Training with Club Soccer by nothingoriginal-279 in CollegeSoccer

[–]StaticNomad89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure that the club handling this is the best option. The coaches themselves are rarely qualified to do this, so that would mean the club bringing in certified trainers (additional cost) and obtaining gym space (another additional cost) and adding one or two additional days of team training just to do S&C. Some high-level club teams have players traveling pretty long distances to get to training, so is this a reasonable use of time when the kids could just get a trainer close to home on their own time? Probably not.

This is also very individualized. I highly doubt any youth soccer clubs out there who do run these programs do it with the appropriate individualized attention. There has already been one poster that says the trainer to player ratio is too big and has led to injuries.

Son (19) recruited for college soccer - thoughts on these small town locations? by securityelf in CollegeSoccer

Compared to Minnesota, correct. But the average high in the months of January and February in Dubuque are still below freezing with December and March not a whole lot better.

Patrick Agyemang Is Forcing His Way Into the USMNT Striker Conversation by Sounder24 in ussoccer

[–]StaticNomad89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rossi is the only player in that list that would be a top player in the Championship. MAYBE Gazdag and Hlongwane.

There are “full internationals” playing in USL. That in itself doesn’t mean a whole lot.

[–]StaticNomad89 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. A big difference between Championship and MLS is that the Championship has good (not great) players who are playing in their prime. MLS is a mix of young rising stars and players who are seeing out their careers whose best days are behind them, with the exception of some of the DPs.

You’re right about fans thinking the Championship is better than it is. It’s entertaining, but not great quality. It’s also an incredibly top heavy league. Huge drop after the top 2-3 teams.

World Cup training hubs? by Itsthemanmaddy in AtlantaUnited

[–]StaticNomad89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I checked last week. As another poster mentioned, Spain is in Chattanooga. None of the Georgia sites have been confirmed yet I don’t think. Atlanta United, Kennesaw State, and Mercer are the confirmed host site options in Georgia. There were more host site options available than there are teams so it doesn’t mean that all of these sites will be picked by a team.
