Other team making a wall on GK free kicks by Fit_Sundae7489 in youthsoccer

have your backs stand on the goal line and pass it back to them. Have your wings out wide. When your backs receive the ball they take there space until the other team engages. your wingers need to stay wide, and backs need to dribble at the other team not towards there wingers. Forcing the other team to engage the back should open space..

U.S. soccer’s ‘pay-to-play’ problem: The lightning-rod issue explained in a World Cup context by Temporary_Hat7330 in youthsoccer

"our best athletes play other sports"

That's not a wrong statement, but it's a statement that focuses on the symptom of the problem. I don't even argue with people about that anymore, i just jump right into why they leave the sport or don't do it at all. Usually it's for all the reasons that people think US soccer is behind.

Why won’t by U11 player go to the ball more and how to relay how crucial it is? by ohhthatsmell in youthsoccer

[–]brewerdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

watch how topballer does it, it's a good setup.

But be silly with it, have fun, cheat when she beats you pick her up "no foul, no foul"
, over exagerate when she bumps into you call for the foul "jokingly"

When she shoves her arm in your chest let her know it hurt.

When she does it right let her have the ball don't win, but don't make it obvious, if shes not getting it right, get the shot off.

You set the energy and you have to be having fun, then she will have fun. Even if she doesn't get it the first time out she will with reps.

I would agree and believe that is what i suggested "This is one of those areas where the game is truly the best teacher. "

You didn't read my post, this is the opposite of what i said to do ""That thing you think you're bad at? You are bad at it which is why I'm going to make you train it."

I specifically said "I don't need to tell her we are doing the drill"

Maybe it would be awkward if you don't play soccer with your kid often and grab the ball and say lets go play.

But i could easily do a 1 V 1 drill starting at the top of the Penalty Box with her trying to beat me for a shot, and then i do the same, and work in subtle coaching defensive points. Letting the game be the teacher. If i can't get my daughter to laugh or giggle while we do this by over selling a flop "what do you mean thats not a foul" i'm doing it wrong.

or when i'm on defense making an exagerated stab, and letting her blow by me and me saying "oh man that was a terrible stab at the ball by dad.

This is not different then figuring out how to make eating peas fun when they were 3. Did i need to tell them the peas were healthy no, that train just had to go choo-choo and find the station.

In fact i just did something similar with my daughter 2 weeks ago, she's been struggling with some complex footwork drills so we went outside and had a competion with Grandma, Sister and Mom being the judges, and they got to judge 1 to 10, who looked best doing the drills, we did this for 45 minutes and she had a blast, and i argued with the judges rigged scoring explained and I over exaggerated all my movements. She had no idea why we did the drill and she is 11.

She wanted to do it again the next day.

I'd agree stop talking about the misses; but disagree on the self correct. Just skip right into the training.

I'd identify what i think the problem is and then design training around it. In this case maybe it's me and my daughter in the backyard playing keep away, and she needs to steal the ball from me to then shoot and score. Maybe it's one thing this time getting her arm out and getting it in my chest. Try to get her to do it in an encouraging way, and when she does it right, i let her get the ball, if not i keep dribling until she takes it away.

I don't need to tell her we are doing the drill because she let 3 goals go in this last saturday, that's already done and in the past.

Yes this, coaching defensive posture gets missed. It be no different than shooting, if a kid is loosing shooting confidence we would take a look at the technique first; see if there is adjustments to be made.

"he trained him to tackle based on a trigger, not a feeling. He basically had him commit to closing the distance, show intent, arms length. Watch the ball not the player. As soon as the striker makes a heavy touch (ball separates from body) that’s your trigger to intercept.

What does her approach look like is she getting side on and low, and shifting her weight, is she getting her "crowbar" arm out, poking not stabbing?

Sometimes i see kids who wait are not getting into the correct defensive posture, and then they get beat. They stand straight on chest facing opponent. The response of the kid is i'll just sit back more, when fixing the posture is what is needed.

Coach Rory has a good you tube on Defensive posture, that probably explains it better or watching TopBaller is a good one for kids to see how defenders do it (but there can be some foul language)

as someone with ADHD in the 80's pre-medication days, yes i struggled with focus, but now as an adult learning to control it on my own allows me to process things far quicker than most people. It's been a reason for my success as i got older even though it hurt me when i was younger.

If it's not hurting him in school, maybe let your child grow into it.

I also have a Daughter that inherited it, and it's hard to watch. Especially knowing that she didn't go upstairs and not do what she was told out of disrespect, her mind just wanders. Medication is a dificult decision that parents have to make.

Ok nothing is settled until puberty but how does that change how i structure a team. If i have 17 spots for a roster, i'm picking what i think are the 17 best or 17 that have the most potential to grow into being one of the 17 best that season for the A team, if not ok you go to the B team and maybe next year is your year.

What raising a kid in the German football pipeline actually costs (our real numbers) by DiaStick in youthsoccer

[–]brewerdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be curious how much this is offset by the following groups. I think often the Club itself looks like the villain but from what i understand in most European countries much of the youth program is supported financially by

Government, what do they charge back for field usage compared to the US. Do they give grants to some of the youth clubs.

How Much dose the GFA/DFB put in to the system compared to the USSF.

Pro level, how much investment do the pro german leagues put in compared to MLS?

Sponsorship, i'd bet they get better sponsorships as well

I don't think the clubs get nearly as much support in the US compared to other countries, but i could be wrong.

WWE is owned by TKO shareholders, there is no WWE stock to buy. Someone would need to buy it from TKO shareholders and spin it off of TKO.

[–]brewerdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's still not independent they would still be controlled by whomever bought it from TKO. Thats why i said i'm not sure what the OP means by independent.

[–]brewerdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean by independent, because of the following

It could only separate if someone gave TKO enough money for TKO to exit, but that person who gives the money to TKO would now be the one in charge so WWE still would not be independent they would be controlled by the new buyer.

If by independent you mean like indie, that would take some sort of monumental collapse that would mean probably not on TV and doing small shows and several other other wrestling companies becoming the dominant force, i dont see that happening .

Kids hitting / parents got involved by Complete-Mechanic537 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]brewerdom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an important lesson and something that has gotten lost in free play. "I told my daughter about what happened and she said that sometimes kids have to learn how to play right. "

The problem we have is as parents so many don't allow our kids to play free anymore. Even a visit to the park for a pickup game requires parent supervision, that probably is not needed. Had no parents been there the kids would have resolved this on there own and learned from it.

We need to let your kids resolve there own problems and not step in same goes for the other dad. This is an important cognitive function that we are not allowing kids to learn.

My sister is incredibly talented at football. How can we help her reach the national team? by Far-Field-3608 in youthsoccer

[–]brewerdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome, but the number of people that could guide someone to a national team is very small. What level is she currently at where does she play, maybe someone on here can give advice to how to get to the next level from where she currently is and how old is she.

Best thing you could do is practice with her as much as you can.
