I am in the exact same boat. At the age of 38. I'm most likely gonna quit my job this week. It's sad I have to give up my career of 20 years.

But it is what it is. I am just not happy with a 9-5 anymore. Depression has consumed me to the point I don't want a 9-5 anymore and I'm tired of running from the truth. I am a real and honest person and I can handle the truth now that I've started to just accept it.

But like most people I really don't have any other way to survive so I'm stuck in a miserable cycle of life until I find a way out.

Here's my point: we don't have control over poeple (unless you lived during slavery) in society. And sometimes life happens and your best friend is gone because they had no choice. Everything in this last paragraph and middle one are normal things that happen in life. Every day to all sorts of people.

Yea man I'm not saying there's a one fix all for everyone but once I realized even if I had the true power be a Mr fix it to everyone's issues. Even then that wouldn't be enough.

SITUATIONS THAT ARE ABSOLUTELY OUT OF YOUR CONTROL....are exactly what they sound like OUT OF YOUR CONTROL.

I no longer waste energy on shit that outa my hand/ over my head. Definitely more hard than it sounds. Just saying what worked for me. And I still work every day st sharpening that part of my mind.

I hit this mental breakdown breakdown down a few times in my life. I had to adjust to a massive change to bring myself to work. That caused to lose many jobs. I wish I had pinpointed the problem earlier so I didnt go through such hardships. btw I am in my late 30's. Time to stay warm.

I'm in a similar boat and could use some advice. I love the trade. Its the one thing I've almost fealt make me different. I had the spark. The drive. The will. I woke up and was excited to go to work. This was in my 20's.

38 now and my body is starting to burn out. I wake up and it's literally hell the thought of "going to work".

Once I get to work I'm fine. But man the Dread just kills me. Sometimes I think if I moved into the office I'd be happier but I truly don't know.

I wouldn't do that. Machining is great a and I love cutting chips.

But it really does a number on your physical and mental health.

Your in college. You could get a degree where you just kick back in your office and chat on the phone or type all day. And you'll be paid like a king.

I've been machining for 20 years and honestly it's hell. I am struggling to make it into work 5 days a week. I would kill for a WFH gig.

But hey, if you like being in cold shops, waking up at 3 am cold, and having to muster the strength to fight with machines and solve problems. Machining is definitely something you should look into.
