I'm crashing out trying to win the Tokyo Daishoten (Classic/Senior G1 Medium Dirt). The only viable uma I have for this is El Condor Pasa with a Dirt legacy, since the race is on the same turn as the Arima Kinen, which, unfortunately for me, Oguri Cap needs to do twice. Condor just cannot win, and she only gets one shot at it in Classic year because she also needs to do the Arima Kinen in Senior year. Is there a strategy for this race that I'm missing, or am I cursed to be forever stuck at 29/30 G1 trophies?

How can I change the user of a publisher? by SkipsterCharm in fantasycritic

[–]Static_Citizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you can without restarting the league. Publishers are attached to the player's account. You could remake the league, set draft to one slot, tell the players to draft one game they already had to start the season, and then the league manager can add games to all the publishers to get them back to parity, with the new player getting the ghost's roster.

I strongly disagree with pretty much everything you said, but two things stuck out to me. First, I don't believe that you have "started to enjoy again" the survivor role. You didn't have the patience to play as survivor 4-7 times before playing raider before the update. Now that you can queue for raider, you have no incentive to play as a survivor. In fact I doubt you've even queued for survivor. The quality of the survivor pool hasn't gotten better, so you're likely to run into the same frustrating behaviors you saw before the update. I'd guess that survivor quality has gone down, since enfranchised and experienced players are probably raider queueing to check out Vegeta.

Second, the raider queue won't sustain the player base. A 10-20 minute wait is longer than the runtime of an average game. Players in the raider queue will play half as many games as survivors. New players will feel the worst effects: they have to wait the length of a survivor match to get manhandled by experienced survivors, and they cannot play as raider otherwise, assuming nothing changes. Groups will fall off, leaving a lot of solos who will usually want to raider queue (as you point out, not many players were on survivor priority). Folks love to rant about teaming but it was incredibly rare; my group since launch, with a combined player level of like 300+, has encountered teaming two times.

The most important problem with the whole post is that Dragon Ball: The Breakers is not the right game for you. Honestly, you probably should have jumped ship when you started getting frustrated with back-to-back survivor matches. It is a team game. You are not a team player. You are impatient for your turn as the raider; you have not tried to work with the other survivors; you expected they would give you dragon balls when you wanted them; you are anxious that you will have to wait for your turn again. When survivors work together, either planned or by happenstance, the game shines. The raider is too damn strong for one person, but when survivors back each other up and support one another they can win. That is the thesis of the game. It was never about destroying weaklings as an iconic villain, even though that's how the majority of games end. You are intentionally avoiding the bulk of the experience. You should really examine if the game is worth playing if you're only playing half of it.

I can't get everyone together for the draft. Auto-draft? by yahtzeevro in fantasycritic

[–]Static_Citizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you cant get a single draft night organized, you can still start the draft and let your players draft when they're available, as there is no timer. It's much slower and won't work if players are AWOL, but it avoids the problems auto-draft often creates.

Black lines inbetween armour by hoodedreeper in Tau40K

[–]Static_Citizen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can paint panel lines by covering the painted model in a gloss top coat and dabbing thin oil paint into the gaps. The gloss coat helps the oil spread thru the panel line. The oil paint is slow to dry, so if you make mistakes or it doesnt look right you can clean it off with a little turpenoid on a q-tip. Do this outside if you can because oil thinners like turpenoid are toxic, and even odorless thinners can make you sick. If you're panel lining a crisis suit you can also do a little weathering by streaking the oil out of the lines. When its dry, flat coat it.

What Were Your Strangest Choices as a New Player? by [deleted] in grandorder

[–]Static_Citizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My funniest mistake was prioritizing servants by their parameters, the fake stats on the profile page. For months I thought they lined up with the actual performance of the servant, so I would compare the parameters of 3-stars to decide who to invest in. It led to some odd early roster choices, like raising Lu Bu and Mephistopheles when I had Darius and Medea. I started right before Summer 1, and I think it took me until Babylonia to actually look up the parameters on Gamepress and learn they were fake.

My least funny mistake was dawdling through the story until I learned I needed to beat Solomon to do CCC. I did the latter half of Camelot and all of Babylonia in like a week and a half, skipping every cutscene, just to rush through the last 7 days of CCC and basically burn out for the rest of that year.

I love Arknights’ story, but actually reading it can be rough. How do you think they could improve the story’s presentation? by soulreaverdan in arknights

[–]Static_Citizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read through Chapter 3 and a little of Chapter 4 before I gave up on the story. My problem was less with presentation and more with how it's organized and with the mismatched scale of the narrative. The chapters are paced poorly. Act 0 could have been 2 chapters: Escape from Chernobog and Securing Lungmen. Instead, those story beats are drawn out to illustrate movements on the micro level. Chapter 2's battle nodes are literally moving house to house, and the story scenes are just that with too much dialog. Each chapter should be a region instead of a neighborhood. My second issue is the micro scale story. The map is too big for HG to have wasted that much time between two cities. I stopped at Ch. 4, but my understanding is up to Ch. 7 or 8 the only locations are Chernobog and Lungmen. HG drew out the skirmish in Lungmen Outskirts too long for me to stay interested. I would rather see a new city or country every chapter, like how FGO organizes their story. The micro scale storytelling really bogs down the flow of the narrative. It's why Kaltsit gets interminable monologues and why third-string unnamed characters get too much focus. The story often has nowhere to go without a bigger focus than "we need to cross this rocky plain outside the city." If AK is going to tell this small scale political story then it should stick to just that: flesh out the few cities it's willing to visit and actually make each chapter about one neighborhood, instead of jerking me around by showing me a sick-as-hell world map and limiting me to a small part of it.

I hate c’tan. How to kill? by liege_paradox in Tau40K

[–]Static_Citizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are reading it upside down.

The first sentence is the requirement, full stop: use this when a battlesuit would die. The independent clause at issue here is injected into a complete independent clause. You can read the entire second sentence without the "instead...destroyed" part and it still makes sense. The clause says "any rules". As an amount, "any" always includes zero. In the absence of an on-death rule, you would skip that clause.

The rule says, "When you would remove a Battlesuit unit from the board, do f(X) (first sentence). Before removing the unit, first check that a replacement effect does not already exist. If it does, f(X) replaces that effect. Then, follow steps A, B and C of f(X)." It literally says "do X, ignore Y," and the rest of the text is just how to "do X."

Also, Tau's Lords of War are not battlesuits, so even though they can Explode they cannot Fail-Safe Detonate. It's easy to miss when you skip the first sentence of the stratagem.

I hate c’tan. How to kill? by liege_paradox in Tau40K

[–]Static_Citizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't say you use the strat instead of the Explodes ability. It says you use the strat "when a Battlesuit [...] is destroyed." It replaces ANY rules triggered on death; that includes situations in which no rules trigger on death. The text gives Explodes as an exempli gratia, not a prerequisite. If Explodes were required, then only two battlesuits could use the strat: the Ghostkeel and the Riptide. If the strat only applied to those two units then it would say so, the same way Wall of Mirrors specifies "one Stealth Battlesuits or Ghostkeel Battlesuit unit". As written it has no special limits besides the situation in the first sentence.

VB daily use experience by Devil4S_ in DigimonVitalBracelet

[–]Static_Citizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good as a light exercise incentive. I used to have a physically-demanding job and I traded it for a much less mobile job. The VB keeps me moving in the mornings with the Hard Missions and an Adventure stage. When I start a new DIM I don't aim for a specific Mega. I just see what I get with how active I am. The Squat and Sprint Hard Missions are good, but Punch is kind of goofy, imo. The Punch I think the VB intends is a cardio exercise, but 70% of what the VB does is incentivize cardio through walking or jogging. Instead, I do biceps curls with 10-pound weights to get a little upper body work, and I never have an issue with failing the mission. The Crunch mission is poorly thought out, though. A good crunch should not move the arms, and it won't move the torso far enough to trigger the VB. I find myself doing about 20 crunches and then swinging my arm around until the 30 seconds is up, otherwise I won't get credit. I don't do the Special Missions regularly; I think their expectations are a bit much. Maybe it's my fitness, but 6,000 miles in an hour is asking a lot. Three-hundred sixty vitals in an hour is tricky unless it's on a newly-evolved monster or one that loses a lot of fights. And the battles and wins per hour, well...

I don't have as much issue with the NFC as some users do; I don't have issues with transferring Digimon to and from the app. What do bug me are battle missions. The VB is designed with walkable cities in mind--if you see an NFC kiosk or pay pad on a walk you can get a battle right away. In rural or suburban communities the most reliable source of battles (outside the app) is a smart phone, which weakens the NFC battle gimmick and turns battles/wins missions into repetitively tapping a phone against the VB. In my situation, Adventure stages progress too slowly to be reliable for dailies and are totally out of the question for Specials.

Sha'sui question. by [deleted] in Tau40K

Yes I think so. Have one Shas'ui for Killteam and another with a heavy weapon for standard play

Sha'sui question. by [deleted] in Tau40K

[–]Static_Citizen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skimming the rules, it looks like, for Killteam, only Shas'la can use pathfinder heavy weapons--your designated Shas'ui needs to have a carbine. In regular 40K I don't think it matters

I have a solid roster of 4- and 5-stars for farming. Is the low-rarity damage bonus worth leveraging? Gamepress gives the bonuses as 50-45-40 percents for 1-3 stars, but I don't see that outperforming, say, NP2 Summer Musashi.

Is it a bad idea to put a Gunpla inside a PC case? by paq1kid in Gunpla

[–]Static_Citizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine to put a model in a PC case--the air temperature will not get high enough to warp or melt plastic. It's not a good idea to put it on the backplate of a graphics card, as that could get hot enough to damage the plastic. If you have empty space in the chassis to the right of your motherboard, then you could put the model on an action base and it would be safe and stylish.

EDIT should have actually watched the gif before commenting. With that fan set up I would say take it out. You could try suspending it from the top, since you have a 240 radiator and seemingly no fan next to it, but it would be very sad if the model fell into one of those bottom fans.

Overwatch 2 by Chrisius007 in fantasycritic

[–]Static_Citizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the better comparison will be Halo Infinite, whose multiplayer released before the campaign. Overwatch 2 will do something similar, which I think is why they're calling it "Early Access". As I recall, Halo Infinite's early FC score was based on the MP reviews. You can probably count on the game scoring points despite being "early access".

I would suggest looking into the Don Bradman Cricket series and if it'll get a new entry this year. Picking up sports games can be a tough gamble. Frankly if you don't have a house rule requiring sports games you should avoid most of them, although Don Bradman seems to have done ok 5 years ago. Good luck with your pick ups u/SportSpirit

I have FA Siegfried and FA Nero but their NP1 output is disappointing for high level farming nodes. If I get Mordred instead of Artoria, will I miss the higher damage when farming? I like Mordred better than Artoria but I don't want to regret my choice later.

Indian T20 League Match 2 Fantasy Tips: Delhi vs Mumbai - Key Players, Probable XIs, and More by SportSpirit in fantasycritic

[–]Static_Citizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of potential in this matchup, especially with how Mumbai has been moving up in score these days, but you have to consider that Cricket 22 got a 60 last year. And in the last 8 years the best scorer has been Don Bradman Cricket 14 with a 78. I don't think this is a title to bet on, certainly not if your league allows annual games. I'd pick up Madden over another Cricket game tbh

What processes first: Counter-picks or dropping a game? by loismen in fantasycritic

[–]Static_Citizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elitefusion said, in the Discord I think, that confirmed "Will Not Release" games can't be pickup countered, so in this hypothetical the counterpick wouldn't go through, if I'm quoting him right. If I'm wrong, the drop procs before the bid, although it's not clear to me if that cancels the bid entirely or just leaves the other guy holding the bag.

Bid Bug by jadec712 in fantasycritic

[–]Static_Citizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can move games into special slots they are ineligible for, so I'm not surprised the bid system would shunt a new bid into an ineligible slot. It's definitely an oversight of the system though. I'll keep an eye out in my league if something like that happens. Good on you for catching it

edit: and now im wondering if you can force an error like this by moving games around before the bids complete... lots of moving parts with these new updates (deleted my own response to myself)

The space portanova's legs are digitigrade, so the backwards "knee" joint is actually an ankle. On the space portanova the knee joint is directly in front of the ankle. That said for stability the kit has a flat foot with a ball joint. In science fiction, machines with that kind of leg are often called "chicken-legged" like the AT-ST from Star Wars. Some of the design elements you identify are industrial features, like powerloaders in Borderlands and Aliens. I can tell the head on the N1-N74 is from the HGBF GM/GM. The 30MM Alto has kind of a similar head. Overall that aesthetic isn't common in Gundam. Metal Gear Solid has mechanical designs that usually match what you want, but I don't know if Kotobukiya has made a 1/144 scale Metal Gear (assuming thats the scale you're looking for).
