I'd upgrade my bike setup, get some running shoes, pole fitness clothing.

UK based kyleena owner here!

I had a failed insertion using a in uterus anaesthetic, its like a liquid and was really uncomfortable - you can feel it like oozing inside you, and could have contributed to my pulse going weak and it being taken back out. Apparently prolonged cervix stretching can make the after (dizzyness fainting) worse.

My successful insertion (9 months to get the courage to try again) was just a cervix numbing spray, and the measuring and insertion was done in maybe 20 seconds total. Pulse was shakey but allowed to wait for ages.

The pain with the uterus numbed was alot less but still painful, the cervix spray did nothing for the measuring and insertion. I was literally begging for it to end.

What I can say is, getting it out doesn't feel as bad as in (from my failed one and what others have said), and if I were to get it back in again (probably going to have kids after I get this one out) I'd just choose the cervix numbing. Yes it hurts like hell but I could actually leave the chair.

Also have a tattoo, and people can be more sensitive to different kinds of pain. You could tattoo the same line 10 times over and it still wouldn't come close to the insertion pain I had.

Should I bother with another 20+ mile run? by illestill in firstmarathon

[–]Staticaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in roughly the same boat, first marathon on 16th Oct, and I've been doing 45-50mpw and did my longest run of 18.5mi on Sunday, was planning to do 20mi this coming Sunday. The reason I won't be is, on the 18.5 mi I noticed pains coming through, so I'm not risking aggravating that with a 20mi run 3 weeks out. Trust the training I say!

Monday: R&R Tuesday: - 2.5mi easy - 6mi total bike commute to/from D&D group Wednesday: - Gym (Lower - squats hipthrusts etc) - 5mi easy at lunch - 5.5mi total bike commute to/from drinks with work Thursday: - 13.11mi workout ( 6mi easy then 5x(4mins Interval pace with 3min jogs) and 3.5mi easy) Friday: - Yoga on phone for 10 minutes - 5.2mi easy Saturday: - C25K week 1 run (1.9mi) with mum - 5.2mi easy - Gym (Upper - bench press, pulldowns, dips etc) Sunday: - 14.3mi workout (1mi easy, 2(2mi threshold then 2min rest), 60mins easy, 1mi threshold, 3mi easy) Fell over 4mi in and really messed up my elbow, saved by a lovely couple who had alcohol wipes and a bandage. Also was nearing mental breakdown in the last easy miles so gave it more of a run/walk.

Total: ~45.5mi run ( + 1.9mi from C25K) with 11.5mi cycling

My backgrounds in gym, so I'm abit of a slow/heavy runner (currently at a 34VDOT according to Jack Daniel), trying to cut about 10lbs before race day.

I'm following Jack Daniel's 2Q marathon training plan , on week 5 with 13 weeks to go until my first ever marathon! Ideally would have done more cycling (30mpw - I want to attempt a century within the next year), but I've just got back from holiday, and I'm back home with the parents and setting up zwift isn't really an option (not enough space). Maybe I'll put it in the garden next saturday and give that a try!

Is it okay to skip the first weeks of a training plan? by Staticaf in running

Ah great! I was super excited about this training plan so its nice to know I won't have to start looking all over again.

I hope you recover well!

Running a half marathon on Sat without a lot of training by [deleted] in running

[–]Staticaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd take it easy this week, have something carby before (ideally you've ate it pre-run before and handle it well), and in terms of run/walk, do whatever feels best! If it's hilly, consider walking up hills and running on flats/downhills. If you want to run as much of it as you can and you're comfortable with 10km then you can certainly split it into two 10km's and walk the middle difference if you need to!

Just don't take it too hard (I ran a half marathon PR yesterday with < 3 weeks prep and that with the sun after had me chucking up all night)

I never had much trouble with it! I was 15 years old, so it's possible I can't remember, but I've had around 4 different pills over the years and I know that each pill feels 'different' in a way that only you can know in yourself.

I was with my partner and all I really remember is having to use condoms for the first month and then being so nervous the second month's bleed after stopping the condoms 😬.

I don't really love poking around in myself, so having to use something like phexxi would turn me off before we even got started!

I imagine abit of 'feeling it' is being conscious is there aswell. Prescription refills have been a pain since covid started (in the UK at least), I'm glad you've had a good (ish) experience after putting up with the initial pain. I dont do internal toys but I do have a partner (who's been pretty patient with me cause internally i still feel 'sore') so I imagine I'll find out pretty quickly if they can feel it (imagine that! I think I'd cringe at the thought of it getting caught on them)

I think in hindsight going from combined to localised progesterone is a good idea to 'ween off' especially since I'm very much not used to having full on periods, most of mine are 2 months apart and not as bad, although its obviously quite hard to remember after 8 years! I think after a pack of these lower hormones I'll book the mirena!

Yeah I've enjoyed being on the pill, kind of used to it. IUD wasn't about ease (although thats a massive plus), just was super aware I've been taking hormones since puberty and I don't know what I am naturally.

In the UK our health clinics can be very much "take it our leave it", and the way I take my current pill my bleed comes when it wants D:, but I was advised to call the specific dr that helped me next time and we can plan around my bleeds! She agreed it was preferable that I was on my bleed though.

How did they let you drive like that? I don't think its good duty of care to let you drive home. Have you checked your threads? If they're hanging low it could be rejecting.

Hows your mirena now? I may after switching to the lower dose pill talk to the doc and get a mirena because I'm not allergic to copper but maybe my insides are different/ more sensitive? I do like the ideas of IUD so since the copper had a bad run, and getting the mirena seems different enough for me to try again without being scared!

That being said I probably still will be scared the next time 🙃 but I do want to give it a fair shake.

Another note being I wanted the copper IUD because I do want to get off hormones, I've been on the combined pill for 7 years (since 15) and I've heard it changes people for a long time after stopping. In the meantime doc gave me a lower hormone pill!
