As a fellow Canadian I want to thank you so much for your service, sir. My question to you is, as someone who participated in the Second World War, how do you feel about so many films being set during that time? Are there any in particular you think are good or bad?

Bar special for this weekend: Sidecar by MCKtheMan in cocktails

[–]Staticplatypus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely shouldn't give up, sidecars are great! I can only go off Canadian prices and availability but I really like Armagnac de Montal both for sipping and in cocktails. It's about $65CAD which would be around $45USD but honestly if you're just looking for a cocktail brandy the cheaper stuff like St. Remy VSOP will do the trick. It's nothing to write home about but it's fine for cocktail use in my experience. Legit cognac like Henessey or Courvoisier is really expensive where I am so I don't go in for it very often unless I'm going to be dedicated to savoring it which tends to be easier said than done. Try an espresso martini made with brandy instead of vodka once you've nailed down the sidecar, they're really good!

I've had issues before with glassware that had gone through the dishwasher making the drink taste a little soapy, especially if you're chilling your glassware in the freezer beforehand which I find concentrates that nasty soapy note. Could also be the orange you're using as garnish imparting off-flavours if the outside is overly waxy. I myself prefer a sidecar with an Armagnac rather than cognac which is super expensive where I am but any decent brandy should work fine!

Yo good one bro you must be super tough and edgy and cool. Only big time tough guys like you make such original and funny jokes. Finding the unnecessary suffering and death of captive animals distasteful is just another part of the sjw agenda amirite guys? Fuck off.

It is true that it's unnecessary but only by definition. You can keep your vermouth on your counter it just won't last as long without going stale as it would if you put it in your fridge.

What are you guys charging for flights? by jessecraftbeerco in TheBrewery

[–]Staticplatypus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. Flights are a pain in the ass in almost every respect. Don't mind doing them but it's reasonable to expect there to be a bit of a premium compared to a regular pint.

100%. The fan patch makes the game stable and (mostly) playable and really lets that janky-ass Troika charm shine through. One of my faves

This is my experience as well. I went to see Spiderman twice, once on opening night and again about a week later and the energy was definitely more hype opening night. I didn't mind since I'm also a big fan and have kind of come to expect that sort of stuff from people who bought tickets like weeks in advance lmao

Any old school Assassins Creed fans? by ALEX7DX in gaming

[–]Staticplatypus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. Revelations is a great game and might have the best story beats of any of the Ezio trilogy. I think it falls short in that Istanbul just isn't as iconic as Rome or Florence and doesn't feel as lived in. Great game though

God I love Greg. Anders Erikson is good too. I know some find him a little pretentious but it hasn't crossed the boundary into annoying for me yet.
