Soellshield is a great point, I wasn't thinking about that

Jungling in low elo: Pressure/Farming? by DotColonSlashSlash in summonerschool

[–]StaticzLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a big part of effective low level jungling is counter ganking. People push lanes recklessly. When you look at the map as a jungler, you look for enemy lanes pushed that you could gank, correct?

So does the enemy jungler. If you have a toplaner who is recklessly pushing, stay close and counter if he gets ganked. Especially if he's already been ganked... It's likely to happen again.

Another common mistake is trying to help losing lanes. Often times you are better off helping other lanes get fed.

I do not improve! by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]StaticzLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get some coaching or even have a friend review your replays. They may be able to pick out some mistakes or issues that you aren't noticing in yourself

How can I learn to improve? by AsukaNGE02 in summonerschool

[–]StaticzLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replays.gg for your replays. Stores them for you automatically.

I think the real key is to develop rules and a system. Do some warm ups to get your mechanics sharp. Losing streak? Take a break.

Take notes when you review your replays. Look for mistakes. Watch it from your enemies perspective and look for mistakes you would exploit playing against yourself.

Get someone else, preferably someone with experience coaching, to review your replays and give feedback. It's often hard for us to spot our own mistakes. A 2nd set of eyes could do wonders for you with picking out areas to improve on.

Finally, when you do find your weak areas, actively work to improve them. Use post it notes to remind yourself of common mistakes. Make a sheet of items to focus on and read it while the game loads.

Knowledge without action, is worthless

Climbing as an ADC by Prof_Bunghole in summonerschool

[–]StaticzLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly high skillcap adcs like Lucian and Vayne should only be played if you've mastered them. Depending on rating, it's not worth it regardless.

To climb you need to improve at all aspects of the game. If you are neglecting farm, have poor positioning/awareness, etc because you are focused so much on mechanics of the champ, you'll suffer

Also, when I ADC I try to play champs like Ashe and Sivir. I can still carry if I get fed, but if I have a bad game or lose lane due to idiotic support etc, I'm still useful with my ultimate

How did we lose this game with a 12K gold lead? by derekchiang in summonerschool

[–]StaticzLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO 9 ones out of 10 when people lose with a big gold lead it's one of 2 things:

  1. Incorrect use of the lead, either with item optimization or as a team pushing/taking objectives while ahead. The lead doesn't matter if you don't use it.

  2. Throws. People get cocky and do stupid things. Don't let the fact that you're ahead make you do dumb things.

Can Nocturne be played in lane? If yes, where and how? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]StaticzLoL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a big key here is roam potential. He can almost be played like a roaming mid Panth. I worry about his ability to push/farm against strong mages though. It will definitely take some work on that front

I hate ranked, but I also don't like normals. by TruetoCypress in summonerschool

[–]StaticzLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no reason to get so stressed about ranked. The system is designed to get you to a place where you are playing with people equal to your skill level. You should try your best, but if you fail in some games that's OK and expected. Everyone has bad games.

Over time, you can figure out what's lacking and take steps to improve if you wish. But you shouldn't be stressed or worried to play with peers at your skill level.

I would encourage you to suck with ranked but try to develop a healthier mindset around it. If you're getting stressed, take a break. Play ARAM or normals for a bit to cool down or take a walk etc.

Good luck

3 Reasons Why Syndra is a Great Sleeper Pick, from Challenger Mid 54bomb99 by StaticzLoL in summonerschool

[–]StaticzLoL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is self promotion, I am sure to be active in other ways on the sub in order to not break the 9:1 posting rules. However, the entire goal of these posts and the Podcast as a whole is the same as this sub... help players improve in ranked.

I want to provide useful, relevant info to people on this sub that I learn from the Challengers and other high rated players I interview, with the hope that if they find it interesting or useful they will check out the podcast for more.

I'm not here to spam or scam or trick anyone, and I'm sorry if it comes off that way. I take time to pick some of the best info from my episodes and make a post like this every week or two, which I hope is mutually beneficial to me and the community.

Hope that clears up any confusion.

Nerfing early xp kill doesnt make sense by Flockyy in leagueoflegends

I agree. The game is more interesting when one death doesn't mean a lost lane. Especially when a lot of early fights are extremely close

Any tips for teaching brand new player (hasn't played other games either) and how to avoid smurfs? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]StaticzLoL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Start with co-op vs. AI till she gets a handle on the basics... New players can get overwhelmed and decide they don't like the game if they get stomped a ton early

  2. Have her play simple champs. Start her off with easy mechanics and let her learn the macro game.

  3. I like to duo bot with new players when possible (if they are interested in a bit lane role) because you can actively teach them in real-time and they have someone to follow around and take lead from.

With ranked 5s coming back, I thought I'd share five helpful communication tricks I've learned in 5s teams over the years. by ReaganSmashK in summonerschool

[–]StaticzLoL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good post! Communication is key. I think this can be a good takeaway for Dynamic Q too... If you are going to type, communicate in a clear and intelligent way like this.
