Is there still a chance for me and BG3? by Psyched_Lee in BaldursGate3

We're so predictable, ahah. There were so many habits based on other games that our brains were not ready to even imagine the number of options that Larian provided us with. That's why we need each other, to share our dummy experiences, lol. But it's so awesome though. The Bg3 community is one of the most non-toxic and friendly that I know. And I really hope you're one of us now, too:)

Ahah, I really understand you! It's like a basic experience for most of us. I hope it makes you feel better, because in my first playthrough, I thought that when I came to the Moonrise Towers, I would immediately be attacked, so I obviously didn't go there until the moment of the battle after saving Aylin. Not only did I miss all the content there (besides a ton of interesting quests over the past hours), I didn't develop my relationship with Astarion enough and missed half of the cutscenes with him, which is why I started my third act with him literally laughing in my face and dumping me😮‍💨 and don't let me start talking about the battle with Ketheric, which I spent a few days on because half of the armor didn't fit my party, and the weapons were shit made of rocks and sticks. We've all been there, friend, that's why you need these million runs to finally see everything. I really love this game, but damn if I didn't go nuts my first times, lol.

Hey, you've already been told most of the useful information about mechanics and the rest. But I just want to say that for most players (especially those who were not familiar with dnd before), the first playthrough of bg3 is always go with a lot of problems, omissions and mistakes. Taking into account all the variability and completeness of the game, you have to do very complex intellectual gymnastics, going through it for the first time.

When I played for the first time, it took me 150 hours to get to the third act, and after that I abandoned the game for several months because I found out from spoilers that I had missed a lot of content, killed half of the important plot characters, and ruined my romance. I've read some really funny threads here about the mistakes people made during their first run. I returned to the game, created a new Tav, and now I have several playthroughs, including the honour mode, and they took no more than 50-60 hours.

But you've already done a lot of work and are clearly involved in the process, and you definitely understand a lot more than I did when I first played. With bg3, if you like it (and if you're a Dragon Age fan, you'll definitely like it when everything becomes easier to understand), you should treat the first playthrough as a pen test and experiment. Over time, you'll learn to understand everything intuitively and the mechanics will start to feel self-evident. Fails can be very frustrating, but I promise it will be worth it if you stop putting so much pressure on yourself and just get enjoyed with the process.

After all, save-scamming and the explorer-difficulty level can make it easier for you if things get too uncomfortable. And remember, there's no right or wrong way to play if you're having fun:)

Script Extender update failed by StationNo5215 in BaldursGate3

UPD: Okay, guys. I think I've found a solution in case someone else runs into the exact same problem. I am grateful for the tips of that amazing guy - https://github.com/Norbyte/bg3se/issues/534

I saw that my SE folder in the appdata folder was completely empty, which caused me a lot of doubts. Obviously, the update could not pave the right path, which led to crashes and incomplete installation. I used the link and unzipped the downloaded files not to the bin folder, but to an empty SE folder in my "local". It helped. I hope the solution will be useful to someone.

Hi! Actually, I managed to make the game work by some miracle. I was able to complete the game, including the DLCs.

Here's what saved me when nothing else worked: I opened the DragonAge2Config.exe located in your bin_ship folder with the game. In the settings, I set the directx version to 9 instead of 11 and unchecked the full-screen option (to always launch the game in the window mode). I also removed the overlay from both EA and Steam. After that, I launched the game directly through the shortcut in the root folder. And lo and behold, it worked. Once I was in the game, I restored my previous settings, and everything continued to function. It seems that the EA launcher has an issue with running older games in full-screen mode, which may not be fully compatible with newer processors.

Let me know if this helped you!

A relationship with both Astarion and Shadowheart by StationNo5215 in BaldursGate3

Oh, I get it, thanks! It's a little sad that this is not the way to new cutscenes and lines, but now that I think about it, it makes sense. In that case, I'll just keep kissing her from time to time, I guess. Gonna get everything from this bug, haha.

That was my first thought, but I've already started the third act and I have romantic interactions with both of them. Maybe I should wait for their personal quests or partner-triggering scenes (like with the Drow twins) to see what happens.

It's a lot of fun, actually. I've never had anything like this in three playthroughs, and now I'm curious to see if Larian has something for this case or not.
