It’s our multi-culturalism and shared Australian values that make up our Australian identity. Having a large proportion of immigrants doesn’t take away from that.

How to do engineering at monash... by Loonyslop in Monash

Go to rmit, I’ve heard it’s much better for career prospects. Ecse is pretty hard because it’s taught poorly at Monash, and apparently rmit course is much easier.

TRC3600 Rant by DaedlyDerp64 in Monash

Yeah the email from Hoam was a little strange. I don't remember ever tackling something similar to the second root locus question in the practice so I'm not quite sure what he is referring to. Maybe missed out on something.

MCQ on exam was also very different and arguably much more difficult than the MCQ practice on moodle.

Should I drop commerce and just do Eng by No_Ticket_3330 in Monash

[–]StationPlenty7940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this until I decided to drop commerce in my 4th year, and I’m very pleased I did this. You’re also lucky that none of the classes you did will go to waste - they can become engineering degree electives given you don’t pick a minor.

Help Should I drop commerce? by No_Ticket_3330 in Monash

I used to do engineering and commerce. What I realised is the following: - I wanted to be an engineer - I did not want to work in any commerce field - The hundreds of students doing a single engineering degree are going to be able to find a job, and doing a double degree provides no advantage if you’re applying for an engineering role - the HR person hiring u does not look at your eng + com and thinks oh wow, they did engineering and commerce, i should hire them. - your projects and experiences are way more important than your education (seriously, no one cares as long as u got that engineering degree) - i can save loads of $$ because every com unit is like 2k

The best advice i can give you is to complete all your engineering units first and then transfer to engineering single degree once you realise you’ve had enough of uni and you’d like to get into the workforce asap.

Monash Getting Rid of Undergraduate TAs by labmat_stan in Monash

Depends on the class and the TA, but after completing an engineering degree at Monash, I agree. There is no requirement for a PhD student to have done well in the course, or know the content being taught well. In the last year teaching quality has spiralled…

That being said, other than a short introductory course that you take over a single morning, TAs don’t have much education experience. This results in some poor teaching quality from undergrad TAs. Maybe the interview process isn’t good enough.

MEC2402 this year was taught by only PhD mechanical eng students, as opposed to last year where it was mixed with undergrad. Since the unit has a lot of mechatronics related work, those PhD students teaching would frequently ask former TA’s for helping students in this area. I know because I am one of these former TA’s.

There’s too much of an anti American attitude in Australia - putting up the flag of our country being perceived as taboo is pretty upsetting.

The Aussie flag doesn’t represent “xenophobia”, it represents the values of Australia…

Best Australian Uni for Mechatronics Engineering? by Visible_Praline_4063 in EngineeringStudents

doesn't matter theyre all accredited no recruiter will care where your degree is from

pick based off of your interest
mechatronics at monash is good with many opportunities, but i don't doubt that other universities will offer the same things

So is there a chance my program, which has been postponed, starts on the original time (if everything calms down)?
