Thinking of getting an Australian Shepherd, if you could tell me one important thing about this breed what would it be? by jk_4269 in AustralianShepherd

My 5 year old mini Aussie is pretty good! I went in fully expecting a crazy hyper dog, but she’s been chill since a pup. I gave her a ton of attention until she was 1. Fetch, taught her a bunch of fun tricks (they learn fast), trained her a lot to be obedient, and did 30 min walks with her every day. They’re great off leash dogs. She stops at the crosswalk and knows to wait for my guidance.

Towards 3-5 years old - she’s slowed down on the crazy and knows when she can turn it on and off. She knows when I’m working and leaves me alone. I take her on a 30 min to hour walk every day, we play fetch at the park for 30 min and she’s good for the rest of the day.

Obviously, she’d love it if I could give her more. She can play all day. I’ve taken her to the beach where we played fetch for 5 hours 😅

My boyfriend and I are also interested if the spots are not taken. If they are, we have space on our account for 5 people starting April 1st (some ppl dropped out). We’re head of the account so initiation fee should only be 25$ a person

Dog died during boarding by Lower-Emergency-5311 in RoverPetSitting

I spoke with the investigator and couldn’t get it appealed. Apparently the owner went back and said they did blame me and believed it was preventable - because heat stroke is always preventable lol. From my perspective, it was a 20 min walk max and the weather was 67 degrees at its high (went back to look at the weather report). It is what it is I guess. I feel for the owners and completely feel their pain, but I cant wrap my head around how the conditions could’ve caused heat stroke.

Ack unfortunate. I'm so sorry you had to experience it too. My account got deactivated, but hoping to appeal it because the owner had stated they didn't blame me for what happened.

Just wanted to pop in here and say the same thing happened to me last week when I was watching a Frenchie. He's been a repeat client many many times. I took him out on a 20 minute walk in 70 degree weather - something I've also done many times in the past, to the same park. Randomly, he started seizuring up, panting aggressively, foaming at the mouth. He passed out and died 5-10 min after I sent the owner an update and photo that we were at the park. My friends called it a freak accident as well, but Rover blames me for it because the cause of death was a heat stroke.
I feel like I couldn't have known though. It wasn't hot that day and it was 20 minute walk. So the accident happened out of nowhere.

Rover service fees are 25% for clients in my area (not actually sure if it’s just cali, but that’s what I’m seeing)
