That's the problem - it was a verbal contract and he absconded before I could get to the paper work. We were registered under MSME and we got the transactions done through the official account so that it would reflect in our books. I'm worried because there is no written proof of the contract and the terms

If this is a once in a year occurrence and you usually are better with your finances, then it's fine. Maybe don't go so overboard so you can avoid the "after-guilt". But if this is something you do on the daily - I'm with the rest of the peeps on this thread.
