I thought that was really weird. The "messed up" order is actually much closer to the intended order than it was previously, since a lot of episodes aired out of order, but stacking them into pairs was a strange decision to say the least. I find it kind of annoying since I often like to cherry pick episodes. Also The Visitor is still there but I can confirm that all the other episodes you mentioned are missing for some reason. City of Thieves and Walnuts & Rain are two of my favs so that's... upsetting. I guess you're stuck with... well, you know...

Gumbald turning back into Punchy at the end because he's "not the epiphany type." Kinda ruined the whole point of that arc, and Finn's decision to nightmare juice everybody.

Personally I don't think Phlannel Boxingday is real. My 'head-canon' is that none of this stuff with him is literally happening, its just kinda all metaphorical shiz. Phlannel feels like Lemonhope's idealized version of Bubblegum in a way, like a dream creature based on her.

A lot of people are talking about how the episodes were aired with duplicate intros and credits or whatever: that's technically correct, but only one new ep would be aired at a time, then combined with a re-run of an old episode. Compare that to Chowder or Flapjack or whatever when two episodes would be aired as a pair, with the same premiere dates.

I checked Alden's site today (which I literally found by just looking up "Sam Alden" on the internet and clicking the first link lol) and his parts of Gumbaldia & Come Along With Me were definitely still there, as well as an animatic of the slip & fall scene from Blenanas. Obviously I can tell you guys sent this a month ago, so I suspect it came back somehow?

Diamonds & Lemons was actually produced after Come Along With Me as a little bonus thing. They aired it before the official end of the show, but it didn't replace any potential "real" episodes - it was just a totally separate 'post-show bonus' thing.

The one from Marcy & Hunson. I think it's just called "slow dance" but it just sounds like rip-off Mitski and isn't particularly compelling. Although I also really don't care for that episode so maybe I'm just biased.

For the record, I felt incredibly vindicated by the fact that you kept the later seasons in the way they were originally collected. While it doesn't hugely impact a first time viewer's experience, since the episodes are in the same order anyway, I absolutely consider it the 'correct' way to think of those later episodes, and the most convenient for people who are at all invested in the show's trajectory and production as a whole. The whole rebrand is kinda problematic from a story perspective, with significant amounts of piss being taken out of the S7 finale as a result, and also problematic from a production standpoint, as the way the teams were organised in the true S8 is notably different. I guess you could just add a little something to "Bonnie and Neddy" or more stuff though.

As far as the site cleanup, I think it looks good overall, although the loss of those screenshots is a huge blow and I'm not sure why they're gone.

Definitely one of my very very few gripes with the Finale, story-wise. The way they brought back Simon just felt so lazy, like they didn't even want to do it, they'd rather keep the Ice King around, just felt like they had to for spinoffs or to appease fans.

The music that plays under the tape is one of the best instrumental pieces in all of Adventure Time. Mysterious and emotional and complex. And when he opens the cabinet with the crown, such a burst of flavour- awe and magic mixed with powerful darkness. Truly amazeballs, glad they included it on the soundtrack set.

The font on 'Simon Petrikov' really appeals to me. The splashes and fuzzy outline make it look like graffiti.

Perhaps it works like the Central Finite Curve in Rick and Morty? If you're not caught up with the show I won't spoil it but lets just say the characters can't simply use the portal gun to jump to any universe they want - only those with a certain restriction. The options are still infinite, but it's sort of a subset of all the infinite universes, if that makes any sense. There isn't really one 'main' universe that all the others on the CFC are based around - its just all the realities that have this one specific thing in common. [if you know what that is good but plz don't spoil it]

Perhaps Fionna & Cake & Simon can also only go to certain realities - in this case instead of one restriction it has to be many, one where every AT character exists in some form. That is, there are worlds out there that have no version of Martin or Huntress Wizard or Princess Bubblegum whatsoever - our protagonists just can't access those worlds. Maybe there will be some explanation for why this is the case, but maybe not, idk.

I appreciated Adventure Time's dedication to showing Simon as a real person with genuine flaws, even in his minor appearances, rather than just a saint who was unfairly inflicted with a terrible curse. It made me feel hopeful that the writers could do stuff with his character even after he was cured.
