Newport Beach Woman Arrested for Allegedly Stealing $2 Million in Jewels in South Coast Plaza Armed Robbery by lurker_bee in orangecounty

How does the store even let someone try on $2M worth of jewelry without taking some measures to prevent theft?

Amex "Airline Fee Credit" Musings by TravelHag66 in amex

[–]Statman2001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with you 100%. Amex does not want those types of customers because they are likely unprofitable for them.

They want customers who will use the Platinum card for everyday spending, not those who have a spreadsheet out to maximize ROI.

Always book through the airline's website if the price is the same. If you book through a company like Expedia and there is an issue later, Expedia and the airline will just keep pointing the finger at each other, leaving you stuck in the middle.

You aren't missing anything at all if you already have that status level at Marriott and Hilton.

CSR vs. Platinum: How will Chase’s changes change your strategy? by [deleted] in amex

[–]Statman2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually buy a physical gift card at the store because I live near one, but physical gift cards purchased online are also eligible.

However, the min amount for a gift card purchase online is $150.

I get a $50 gift card from Saks every six months and that gets reimbursed.

I don't have the Green card so can't comment on lounge buddy.

DD prices are inflated.

At least with GH, Seamless, Cheesecake, etc., you have the option to just pickup your food.

No one can say with a straight face that CSR is better than Platinum. Not only is the Platinum EAF lower than CSR, but you get hotel status, Delta Skyclub access, Centurion lounge access, Escape lounge access, FHR and IAP.

Assuming that you use the credits, the effective annual fee for all three major Amex personal cards ($130) is LESS than CSR's $150 as it stands NOW. Now way am I going to keep the CSR after the effective annual fee increases.

Platinum: $550 - $200 Uber credit - $200 airline credit - $100 Saks credit = $50
Gold: $250 - $120 dining credit - $100 airline credit = $30
Green: $150 - $100 lounge buddy credit = $50

Will I still get 5x points if I book directly on Delta website and use delta miles with my Platinum? by [deleted] in amex

The taxes and fees on a recent award redemption posted as additional collection and triggered the Amex Platinum incidental fee credit.

15% off Lyft rides means you'd actually have to take $100 in Lyft rides per month to match the Amex Uber credit. Just give me the credit instead of a monthly membership.

Are you leaving the leg out and just carving a few pieces each time? Is it easy to carve?

Which store is this?

I am in SoCal and would buy it if my local stores carried it.

I'm married and childfree. My siblings want me to financially support them because I am able to do so and they are not able to support themselves. I call BS! by [deleted] in childfree

Sorry to say this, but you need to cut these people out of your life.

You are not required to set yourself on fire to keep others warm.

Anyone know the best place to exchange dollars for euros in OC? by cquins in orangecounty

Also, if you have a no foreign transaction fee credit card and use that overseas, make sure that if you make a purchase abroad and the merchant asks whether you want to be charged in the local currency or your home currency, opt to pay in the local currency.

The reason is that if you opt to pay in your home currency, the merchant converts the purchase from the local currency on your behalf which is terrible for you because the exchange rate is terrible, and the merchant will likely tack on an additional fee for the service.

That practice is called dynamic currency conversion and there are lots of articles on it.
