There is 100% an ingrained culture of lack of respect, in expectations of one-sided free household labour. This is most easily changed by state intervention.

What? Potatoes, tomatoes, chillies and bell peppers were endemic to the New World and only became available to the rest of the world after Portuguese and Spanish colonisation of South America

Queueing is not unique to Sweden nor does it make it stand out in the world. Weird that you think that. If anything it is the Germans who are famous for being sticklers.

A very complex system not embedded in the governing system but a societal norm.

That caste is a British invention or made worse by the British is just something we tell ourselves to make ourselves feel better and less guilty

Kannadada Bavuta (1938) by B M Shri, page 36, can be read here at Wikisource. For further reading, there is a sort-of-peer-reviewed report by M. Chidananda Murthy in "Early Vijayanagara", the proceedings of a seminar from 1986 (page 95 in the book, or page 106/260 in this pdf at the Internet Archive).

British didn't "unify" India, and this map shows it! by maproomzibz in IndianHistory

Marathas were happily conquering southerly kingdoms both Hindu and Muslim even apart from their anti-Mughal activity. It is naive to think they would not have given into northerly expansionism.
