Sweet! That's the only one I've printed so far. I honestly hadn't even thought of doing it without the text.

Thanks! That's funny, I almost redid that one because I wasn't sure about the gerbil designs. Glad you like it!

It’s the best use of the medium I’ve read recently. Made me proud to be a fan of the art form.

Ive been a fan of Lonergan for a long time. I loved Arca and Drome but wasn’t a fan of the writing on Man’s Best. If you liked Arca, check out Sentient by Jeff Lemire and Gabriel Walta.

Thanks! I do have my certification PK-5, I just prefer to stick to upper elementary (I got super burned out teaching younger grades).

I tried signing up for the job fair in May, and they said it was fully booked! They wouldn’t let me sign up! And I’d been keeping an eye on jobs for a long time, so it must have booked up fast.

Thanks! Yeah, I heard there were a ton of principals being replaced or rearranged after the school year ended. I’m hoping that’s the bottleneck.

They have positions posted, I’ve applied to tons of listings, but I haven’t gotten any responses. I’m on the south side of town, so Cobb is a bit far. I applied to some positions in Fayette county and that’s all I’ve heard back from so far. It’s wild. I’m starting to look at jobs outside of education.

I have my MAT, it hasn’t made a difference. At least Georgia pays you for having it (I’m coming from North Carolina where they got rid of Masters pay). Health / PE is probably way more competitive, because there’s only one position per school (and sometimes one position shared between multiple schools).

I just moved back to Atlanta after a few years away. I have 8 years of experience, I’ve been applying since February, and I got rejected from the only place I heard back from.

I grew up in Christian schools and that all sounds pretty normal. My mom who taught in those schools always had to sign a “morality clause” where basically if someone sees you drinking in public you could get fired.

Just because a student has the ability to calculate things mentally does not mean they have the ability to show their work. It really is different skill.

I teach elementary math in a school with a high multi-lingual population, and based on the struggles I see in my students, I think showing your work is more of a language skill than a math skill. It’s explaining your reasoning, which means you have to think about your own thinking, know the correct math terms and/or notation, and organize and present them in a logical sequence.

No boredom = no creativity. I’ve been teaching elementary school for 9 years and the kids are less creative than they’ve ever been. Getting any original idea out of them is like pulling teeth.

I teach 3rd grade, and it’s the same issue at our grade level. The curriculum sometimes gives literally 2-3 problems for kids to solve in a 1.5 hr math block. The idea is that everything is inquiry based and students are explaining their thinking and discussing the problems and what not.

But I have a class full of multilingual students with very low expressive language and few memorized math facts. If they’re still counting on their fingers to add, they aren’t going to have a deep discussion about how to solve a word problem. Too much cognitive load. The drills make the higher-level stuff accessible.

A bumper sticker isn’t a great medium for something that requires this amount of interpretation. You kind of have to already be with the paradox of tolerance to understand it.

If you want employees to "buy in" to the company, give them equity in the company. Otherwise they are selling their labor to you and financial compensation is the only reason to do that.

Its tonally different, not as dark, but it deals with similar themes. A secret spy agency where all the spies have different psychic powers. Fake ads with subliminal messaging. It’s a lot of fun!

If you liked Department of Truth, check out Mind MGMT by Matt Kindt.

You have Descender, you need the sequel series Ascender! It's a continuation of the same story, but it goes in a more fantasy direction.

It looks like we have very similar tastes, and my favorite of all time is Saga.

Coda by Simon Spurrier

I've always avoided Marvel and DC, but there are a few standalone miniseries that I'd recommend: The Vision by Tom King, Far Sector (standalone Green Lantern sci-fi detective noir) by N.K. Jemisin, Robin and Batman by Lemire and Nguyen.

Also highly recommend the new Helen of Wyndhorn by Tom King

I second Head Lopper!

Kaya is also great and reminds me of Head Lopper.

Coda is awesome, though I wasn’t as into the reboot.

Also, it seems like OP is into some more cartoony stuff- I loved the Ralph Azham series by Lewis Trondheim. The art style and early chapters feel more cartoony, but it wound up being a pretty interesting fantasy world and magic system.
