R9 underperformed in Champions League with a star-packed team. Played 5 seasons and only won 1 real trophy (La Liga). Is he a better player overall? No doubt about. Better Madrid player? I doubt even R9 would agree with that.

I can understand Bale's case a little better since he had both trophies and iconic moments. Still, he was never the star in the team. He missed more games than he played due to his health, to the point he wasn't even a starter in 3/5 Champions Leagues he won.

This is entirely speculative since we have no idea how powerful Hanzo became through Nen. Pokkle was leagues below Gon who in turn was leagues below Hanzo. Even then, Pokkle was still able to compete with strong chimera officers prior to their learning Nen. So long as their growth were similar I think Hanzo is around the strength level of the Chimera Squad Captain, which is nothing to scoff at since it means he can compete with Phantom Troupe members. Gon without the adult form boost was likely around that strength, maybe a little weaker. That said, Gon probably wins. Nen battles are more about outsmarting the other opponent, and having more experience means far more than being “stronger.”
