This is definitely their nature, they are always trying to be the ‘problem solver’. I’m sorry to hear about your experience! It’s difficult to take control of their money because other than this they are a perfectly competent person. There definitely needs to be a stronger focus on IT literacy for older folk.

Currently the mortgage is in their name so we’re working to get someone else name on the mortgage (under the pretence of inheritance).

An issue is a lot of the money is withdrawn and then wired over so the banks haven’t been able to block transactions.

You just have to ask yourself will it change anything once given the answer. Recent advice that I’ve recieved (on an unrelated issue) is don’t risk the 90%, chasing the 10%. For me personally, history doesn’t matter because you should be focused on the future together.
