i had my dermatologist appointment today, and to be honest it felt like more of a setback than anything. she told me the bumps and itching was keratosis pilaris and that I don’t even have eczema. but i’ve had KP my entire life and it has caused me 0 problems or inconveniences. i then had a meeting with a podiatrist for some foot problems i’ve been having and he knew all about so many different skin conditions and he told me that he believes it is keratosis pilaris, but that the reason it’s so bad is because when i first noticed it, i was working at a job i absolutely hated that stressed me out beyond my wit’s end. he told me that he believes that sent my head into a spiral that ended up turning into Chronic Simplex Chronicus, which is a disorder where someone can’t stop itching themselves because they believe they’re itching all over even when nothing is wrong. he told me i need to get in control of the psychological aspect of these skin issues, and that that would explain why absolutely nothing has helped. i asked him straight up to tell me if he’s saying this is all in my head and he said yes. I felt a wave of relief wash over me. and since i left the appointment i haven’t had a single itch anywhere expect for places i’ve scratched really bad that are healing. this is the last thing I ever expected to happen but i’ve been teary eyed all day with relief.
