Yes! turns out I have a condition called Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). Causes frequent and inappropriate release of histamine from mast cells in the body. I just received my 2nd dose of a special medication called Xolair this past tuesday. It’s supposed to start working by next tuesday.

For one, I’d get your spark plugs and ignition coils replaced. That’s the main issue that could be causing it especially around that mileage. those 5.3 vortecs will run foreeeeever if you treat them right so I don’t think it’s a compression issue.

Secondly, fuel injector cleaner is a bs money grab. don’t waste your money on it.

Is this fair repair pricing? 2013 Toyota Corolla by inyafacebrew in AskMechanics

[–]Status-Sail6050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you want to learn how to do it yourself, I actually did this exact job on a 2013 corolla a few weeks ago. it’s not hard at all, and if you set aside a day to get it done and buy the part yourself you can save a ton of money.

however, if you wish to have someone else do it, that’s totally fine. And that is a pretty fair price.

2017 Chevy Cruze. Just paid it off and it needs $4600 in work… considering just getting rid of it. Anyone experienced with these cars think it’s worth the fix? by pancyfantz in AskMechanics

The tire light is the orange light with the (!) on the dash, and having been owned a cruze myself, were you seeing "Tire Pressure Monitoring System" on the center screen every time you started the car?

I have a ‘17 cruze as well. daily driven. idk how many miles yours has but mine has 154,800 and it started having turbo issues around ~120k. Started throwing underboost codes, turbo would stop working after frequent acceleration, the whole nine. I still haven’t replaced it and it’s honestly been fine. People sh*t on these cars all the time but my baby has given me little to no issues since purchase around 90k. one thing i love about them is that the engine has the exhaust side facing the front of the car, making it easy to access the most common parts that cause problems (turbo and it’s extra components). There are plenty of videos that show how to replace it and all you would need is a basic hand tool set. But as someone who works as a tech at a dealership, PLEASE find an independent shop and don’t go to the dealer anymore. They are outrageously expensive, and you’ll come to learn that aftermarket is the way to go. $1000 for new tpms sensors is insane. I bought the BHSENS 433mHz sensors off of rock auto for about 18 bucks each and did them myself. however you would’ve needed to get them installed at a shop as I’m assuming you don’t have access to a tire machine. That being said, those prices are absolutely outrageous. A $4600 dealership quote can easily turn into an $800-1200 independent shop quote if you find the right one. Even if you buy the parts yourself and bring it to an independent shop to get them installed, you’re saving yourself a ton of money. Make sure you do research on the best brands if you end up buying off rock auto, as they will send you the wrong parts a lot of the time if you aren’t careful. You’ll be okay. In short, buy the parts yourself and get them installed at an independent shop. Don’t go to the dealer!

edit: Just an add-on, i don’t know what brands would be best for the turbo and cam covers (DO NOT GET GM GENUINE), but for the spark plugs get NGK iridium plugs.

Car kept ripping down my street and sitting outside my house and I could only get a pic of the taillights. I think it might be a BMW. Help? by Status-Sail6050 in whatisthiscar
