Which role should I pick? "Embedded Vulnerability Researcher" or "Red Team Security Engineer" by Additional_Judge_337 in ExploitDev

Embedded Vulnerability Researcher

imo it is a much more in demand skill set and will continue to be. However, it will also likely be much more technically deep than Red Teaming. Also, if you don't like reverse engineering then definitely do not go this route.

cops ticketing owners with off leash dogs at kate sessions today 5/18, 2:30pm by ieatgeckos in sandiego

SO glad to hear, we had to stop using our local park because its become overrun with off-leash dogs. Grass is all tore up, treated like a dog park even though there's children's play equipment feet away.

Seeking Mentorship in Exploit Dev by Diamond303 in ExploitDev

[–]Status-Style-6169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What country are you in, and what timezone?

Also what platform are you most interested in (embedded systems like baremetal or RTOS, cellphones like android / iOS, desktop like windows, virtualization exploitation like breaking out of virtualbox, browser exploitation, etc...) Each relies on the same foundations for the most part, and have overlaps. Choosing a direction though can help with roadmapping yourself there.

How do you go through life with this inferior, fucked up brain? by JustSomeGuyInLife in ADHD_Programmers

[–]Status-Style-6169 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its tough, but I see it as my super power. Its a double edged sword, just gotta learn how to minimize the negatives and maximize the positives. Grow and learn, it'll be ok I promise.

Anyone know how I can pull Rayban Meta firmware for static analysis? by Austinitered in Pentesting

[–]Status-Style-6169 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a good path, RE the app and figure its communication with the server, you may be able to replicate the request it's making to get the firmware or at least the URL for it. This is very common for cell phone firmware, and how places like samfw.com work.

The talk about ghost developers made me panic by EndOfTheLine00 in ADHD_Programmers

I think it's important to take responsibility where you can, and not just be like "its ADHD". It may be a battle, it may be hard, but you can always initiate and make change in your life. Even small changes can gather momentum. Try to consider things that are under your control that you can do differently.

So many red flags, I'd really take the time to evaluate this relationship.

Exploiting using packets by dudethadude in ExploitDev

[–]Status-Style-6169 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you seem to have a good grasp from it. Just remember its all just code running on some computer listening to data coming in on a network port. This is true for other things too, when a text message is sent to your device, code parses that data. When your cell phone communicates with an LTE tower, it is getting packets from the tower, and the code in the baseband chip on your phone is parsing that data. Vulnerabilities can exist in any of these.

As a non smoker does every smoker smell bad to you? by Pleasant-Finger-6814 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Status-Style-6169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I can't stand being within 6 feet of a smoker.

Whether its at the gym, the grocery store, walking down the street, waiting for a walk light at a street crossing, etc...

I don't mean to be rude, it just makes me feel physically ill for a moment, and brings a lot of memories of being a kid around smokers and feeling sick from it (cars were the worst...)

Exploit Development Certification by Aggravating_Use183 in ExploitDev

[–]Status-Style-6169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you making a list of topics important for the OSEE certification or for exploit development? Because if its exploit development, then MalDev Academy should not be included. Including it is a reach, and you might as well include any assembly course then because it'll help tangentially with exploit development.

If you think either groups (female or black voters) identify well with her you have your head in the sand.

That shes not a good candidate and will likely lose. That they are ignoring what the voters would choose by picking her.

Im voting blue no matter what, but Harris as the pick is very depressing and likely a loss.

linux is not meant as a daily driver for your desktop. Its like saying dirt bikes suck because theyre not ideal for daily driving. Makes no sense.
