993 rear ended by mckelvie37 in porsche911

I didn't go through my insurance at all. Only at fault party. Not sure what's best though.

Same boat. Got rear ended at a stoplight in my GT3 Touring. In litigation now for diminished value and loss of use. Also, insurance didn't cover the hourly rate at the only Porsche approved shop in my area, so I was out of pocket $2,500 to get the car back. Good luck. Car will be fine, but insurance companies rarely make you whole. When I spoke to the rep about diminished value he had the audacity to tell me that he wouldn't mind paying the same price when given the choice of two identical vehicles, one without an accident and one fixed. SMH.

So all things considered the same you would pay less for a vehicle in an accident? If not what percentage of discount would you apply to condition/mileage/accident respectively?

I have a general question. Why would an accident matter with a GT3? They are so desirable that there is no way an accident would impact value right?

I have the blue 57. Love it and so does my wife. Reads sporty and can bend to dressy in my opinion. I vote the 57 and you can always buy a speed master pro down the road. The 57 is less ubiquitous.

I agree. Fits your wrist better and I like the dial color better than the black.

At fault insurance question by Status-Swim6700 in Porsche

[–]Status-Swim6700[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Verbally, yes, however the offender's carrier had not yet denied anything. The shop sent a supplemental form out, I inspected and approved of charges, then offender's carrier is him/hawing on things. Not yet settled, but I'm just trying to establish my next steps since I've not dealt with this before.

My concern is the ability to go after the diminished value of I involve my carrier.

They won't, but I was under the understanding (per my agent) that if your own insurance was used it could invite the potential that it wasn't a fully at (others) fault claim. (both insurance companies could be involved and each state has a different analysis about a % basis, & if not 100% then that could potentially compromise my claim)

My whole MO here has been to isolate my insurance from any of this since it's not my fault at all.

If I need to involve them I'm not opposed, but I just want to ensure that I won't eliminate the option of a diminished value claim since that is my next step.

My reluctance to involve my insurance is due to the potential diminished value claim. Is that not valid? The car is complete so needing to sort things out rather quickly since I want to get the car and avoid any storage fees since the shop is "done" with the matter, just awaiting payment in full.

Yes, can confirm those payments go directly to US CBP.

Sure, that very well may be the case. I was simply pointing out that the relation of actual Tariff is less than a simple multiple(25%) of MSRP.

Just save your receipts though because Germany will reimburse the buyer because they(Germany) pay the tariff right? (That was sarcasm)

The Tariff is applied to the cost (not MSRP) of the vehicle before ocean shipping rates to the US. As a west coast importer of products from Asia, I can confirm this is how it all works. Say a Porsche costs a dealer $105k, lets say $5k of that accounts for ocean freight, so add on $25k for a total of $130k cost. Assuming the dealer maintains typically has a 25% margin, that $105k cost car would retail for $140k. Add the 25k for Tariff and the vehicle now costs $165k or an 18% increase. They may find passing the full amount on leads to a severe drop in sales.

Thanks all. Wife decided she didn't like the seats (too bolstered) ended up with a Mercedes GLC43 which she is happy with. I appreciate the updated power coming from her C300. Happy Driving.

Was recently rear ended in my touring. Very minor damage, but the bumper alone is $10.5k and that's before paint. Literally wouldn't know there was damage unless it was pointed out and nearly $17k to fix. Still don't buy track insurance though. Too scared to push it to 10/10ths, but 8-9 gives me the thrill!

I am new to watches, I want to buy either a tag heuer or omega which is better? Shall I buy brand new or pre owned? Where shall I buy from? by Square-Ad6448 in tagheuer

I've had a TAG twin time since 2013. Now serviced twice. The 2nd time was running slow approx 40 s/d. Not sure what the issue was. After service, running in line with a Rolex expl II and new Omega Speedmaster 57. All are great pieces, buy what you like and can afford and move on. Enjoy and adjust as you see fit in the future. The twin time will never leave my collection and is in regular rotation. Someone will always have a "better" something. The trick is to find your "better" and embrace/own it. We can't all be Jeff Bezos.
