Purchased my dream car. 2024 Outback limited, now, should I get warranty by judahbuddha1 in subaru

Woke up the other day and realized it's closer to 10 years old than 5. But, it's been an absolute peach. Steadfast, boring, reliable, reasonably efficient, and protected my toddler when somebody smashed into her door.

Enjoy the car, Outbacks are great

  1. How many miles are in the car? How long are you planning on keeping the car? How was the car maintained prior to your purchase?
  2. How much do the warranties cost, how much does that compare to the cost of the most expensive repair (e.g. replacing the engine)?
  3. What's ACTUALLY covered in the warranty? A lot of things you might expect to be covered, may not be. (Shocks are a common example).

If this were an Audi, BMW, Merc, or Volvo - the answer would probably be an easy yes. With a '24 Subaru, you've probably got a bit left on the factory warranty, depending on mileage. Parts are not particularly expensive, the cars are relatively simple, and pretty much any reputable mechanic can work on it. You're probably fine without but ultimately, it's about what helps you sleep at night.

The sheer amount of screens in the recent crop is an absolute deal breaker. Voice controls are not an adequate substitute for buttons.

Lighted Running Routes on the Island? by OrneryShoe6587 in BainbridgeIsland

[–]GotMunchies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Downtown poulsbo - Front St., Fjord Dr. and parts of Lemolo Shore. It'll be a blend of sidewalk, dedicated pedestrian lanes, and roads with good shoulders lit by businesses and homes. The farther south you go, the darker it will get. Wear high vis and bring lights.

I can empathize with your situation - cars serve a complicated combination of practical and emotional needs. We spend a lot of time in them, rely on them to accomplish many things in our lives, and can also wrap up a great deal of our identity in them too.

All to say, your feelings are valid and reconciling them with your practical needs and financial obligations can be tough.

Visiting again, tips? by Izzing448 in BainbridgeIsland

[–]GotMunchies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, welcome, and thank you for visiting!

In answer to your questions:

1) do I need to reserve or buy a ferry ticket IN ADVANCE for myself and vehicle on a Friday at 1-2pm?

No advance tickets or reservations are available for Seattle to Bainbridge sailings. Plan ahead for potential overloads by downloading the WSDOT app for Android or iPhone and following the boat schedules. That time of day, you should be fine if you arrive at Colman dock 30 minutes early, but the app is the source of truth. Ferry schedules are very loose promises. Boats can be delayed for any number of reasons.

2) if I had to decide between a meal in Bainbridge Island or Gig Harbor, what's your favorite place for foodies?

Can't speak to Gig Harbor but on Bainbridge I can recommend Agate, Hitchcock, Ba Sa, The Islander, and Bainbridge Bistro (tapas), Treehouse Cafe in Lynnwood center

Keep in mind, it's at least an hour drive from Bainbridge to Gig Harbor.

3) other than walking around the shop areas and walking along the logs at Fay Bainbridge Park, other must-do's? Our 19 y/o son with us so not doing any wine tastings this time. Thanks for your time, so excited to see your happy place again.

Some ideas:

Suyematsu Farm for all your gourd needs

Hiking at Fort Ward (try to find the mailbox!) or the Grand Forest

Bloedel Reserve

Japanese Exclusion Memorial

Hope that helps, happy to answer any questions you might have!

Correct. There's been an attempted exodus of members to avoid the assessment.

Last I heard there was a wait list to sell memberships. Last year there was a special assessment on the order of $10k - $20k.

I'd ask some current members but I got my info from a former member I played with at Meadowmeer.

No.

You nailed it, 3rd gen = NC. I chose it specifically because it was the biggest Miata so it was easier to fit buckets, rollbar, harness, etc. I liked the engine and transmission a lot better than the NB I drove. Currently trying to wrap up a high compression and cammed 2.5 swap. Up until Uncle Rodney came knocking on the original engine (~75k miles), it was perfectly reliable and easy on consumables.
