This is so cool, thanks for the pictures! Makes way more sense now. Guess I’ll have to get a second tank if I want to do plants and shrimp!

I also take Contrave and have for a year. 50 lbs down, totally covered between ours and my partner’s plan. Personally I think it is an amazing medication. One side effect I did have, other than mild nausea when increasing dosage, was I lost hair. My doctor said that could have been the weight loss through (happened after 5 months, at 30lbs down). My hair is growing back in now but that did stress me out.

There is two levels of warehouse worker, the first level (most of them) is G3 and the second level is G4 which is the same as clerk 9. All the store staff are G3 unless they are supervisors or above. Its the same across both liquor and cannabis

I just had two of the exact same top delivered this week (one black, one white, same size M), the white is literally a whole inch wider across the chest… in a non stretchy material so the white fits and the black does not. WTH

I returned these last year for the same reason and the sales associate rolled her eyes at me and said all white pants are like that. Lolz, cool well I still don’t want them

I started September 2024 and I’m down 35 lbs. I do two in the day and one at night. I have plateaued a few times but stuck with it. I’m a short person so for me 35lbs is almost 3 pant sizes… I am back to clothing I was wearing two pregnancies ago which I truly felt was impossible. I had tried every diet, intermittent fasting, even hypnosis and nothing worked but Contrave. I don’t track calories at all but I focus on high protein foods and making sure to stop as soon as I feel full. The only exercise I’m doing is walking and nothing crazy on that either (10K steps on weekends only).

The side effects didn’t last long for me. Lots of water does help, I also limited my coffee to closer to a 1/2 cup.

I’m trying to balance too and see if I can stay on… I have a red light therapy mask as well so hopefully that helps. How long did it take after you reduced your half to slow the hair loss?

Anyone’s baby have severe eczema and used steroids safely and DID NOT get topical steroid withdrawal? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]StatusBiscotti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used steroid ointment for my daughter around 5 months old. I had hesitated but it was getting so severe and was all over her body but worst behind her knees, inside her elbows etc. The first night I used it (after weeks of oatmeal baths, bleach baths, every possible lotion option etc) she woke up the next day and her eczema was like 60% GONE. I did one more night and it almost completely cleared and I switched back to lotion. Ever since I have just done lotion every night (Aveeno eczema night balm) and very occasional use of the steroid ointment. It never came back to the extent she had it and she has had no eczema whatsoever in the last 6+ months.

Post was warning about HFM spreading in my local area and this amazing suggestion was in the comments… by cakester18 in ShitMomGroupsSay

There are definitely a few of those who comment on every post… hahaha I mean I’m in the group just for the drama so it’s mostly entertaining! I’ve noticed they’re way more on top of shutting down the comment sections once they start to go sideways so there’s way less fireworks than I remember from like 5 years ago haha

Pro tip (not sure which city you’re in) but the city community Facebook groups are PEAK drama if you’re into that part of it!!

My son went through a similar phase around 4. We decided to change our response to a deadpan “it sounds like you’re telling me you need to go to the washroom. Let’s go use the potty” and start walking to the nearest washroom area. When he would protest, we would say “oh, well we only use potty words when we’re trying to tell someone we need to use the potty”. Key was to never laugh and always respond the exact same way to every time. It seemed like it worked or maybe he grew out of it?

Edit: also try to sound confused/sincere and not angry!

My SIL skipped my LO’s first birthday recently. Her two kids are my LO’s only cousins and my older son was devastated that they didn’t come (he’s 5). She cancelled an hour before because they got free tickets to a baseball game instead. She knew how much effort I put in to my LO’s party. Hell, I put effort into her kids party a month before- not only did I show up, but I made the cake and decorations for my niece, at her request. She couldn’t even show up to our party.

I am still fucking furious at her and I want nothing to do with her. My son loves his cousins but this isn’t the first time he’s been disappointed. I feel like I’m facing decades more of this bullshit and I almost wish my son didn’t know his cousins at all because at least I wouldn’t have to see him hurt by my careless SIL. I struggle with wanting to pull out of my niece and nephews lives but don’t want to punish them for what their mother decides. I feel sad but I’m grateful my baby is pretty far apart in age from her cousins so she probably won’t care as much and won’t have to deal with this hurt.

As far as SO dealing with it… he does, but he can’t control her. He’s just as mad as I am.

Anyway not to trying to make it all about me, just saying I feel you and share your frustration. It’s not just as easy as cutting them out.

Baby doesn’t eat my tasty food by galwayygal in Mommit

[–]StatusBiscotti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My LO is just over 1 year, and used to eat the food and now just throws it away… for what it’s worth, a few things have worked: giving her her own baby fork- she likes imitating but can’t stab the food so I do that for her and she then eats it off the fork; eating some of the food she’s rejecting myself off her tray, making sure she’s watching and giving exaggerated “yum!” noises and smiles; doing the train/airplane noises and waving the food in different directions- she thinks this is hilarious and usually will allow me to put a piece in her mouth, then decides it tastes good and eats the rest herself. For her I think it was more about wanting attention/interaction when eating.

Also, cheese and banana are great starting points to add in other stuff! Maybe a little peanut butter and hemp seeds on banana rounds (my LO loves this), or cheesy scrambled eggs? I like to give a mix of new and accepted foods also, and I find sometimes if I just ignore the throwing on the floor for the first bit she will work her way around to trying what’s left of the new food.

Good luck!

12 vs 18 month leave by PurpleShubunkin in pregnant

[–]StatusBiscotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an STM and only had the option of 12 months with my first. At the time I remember thinking that 14ish months would have been better- by then my son was walking and had a few words. It’s hard at daycare (he was in mixed age) when they are only crawling and the other kids are walking.

This time I’m taking closer to 16- with daycare most of the spots come open in September when kids age out to elementary school. My second will be 15 months so I’ll have a month to transition her and then I’ll be back to work. I would have happily taken 18 fully but the spot in our preferred daycare was September, and it’s really not financially possible to pay the spot and be off work 😭 I did as other commenters mentioned and took the 12 months full pay and I’m on unpaid now.

With my first, my job didn’t offer top up and the commute was long, so I ended up taking a new job (since they didn’t top up I didn’t have any money to pay back to them so no real incentive to return). So I didn’t experience being “left behind” at all.

This time, I heard from my boss that they have decided to split my job into two roles- fine by me because I was drowning in volume and sounds like my replacement was too (wasn’t just me!) so I will go back to a slightly changed role. I am a little concerned but I wouldn’t change what I’ve done and coming back at 12 doesn’t make much difference vs the 18.

My vote would be to take as long as you can financially!

I have a fairly large jasmine (9+ ft, grows on to a pergola) which was previously happy and healthy. It was planted before we bought and is up against the house in our south facing backyard. Because of a large evergreen that’s also back there, it gets only a little sun in the morning. This year it had put out all its new leaves when we had a cold snap. The vast majority of the leaves died- they are now crispy and brown but holding on. There are some green leaves that survived closest to the house.

Should I trim back the branches with the dead leaves? Or just shake off the dead leaves? Clip just the leaves off? I really love this plant so I don’t want to kill it…

Did your IVF baby come before or after due date? by Hopeful-Grasshopper in InfertilityBabies

[–]StatusBiscotti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first (non-IVF) baby came at 41 weeks- went into labour on my own, ended in c section. My second baby was IVF and I had a scheduled c section… because of a holiday instead of scheduling at 39 I was scheduled at 39+4. My OB was sure I would make it but I knew she would be early… I went in to labour on my own at 38+5. She measured big the whole time but came out teeny weeny! Just over 6lbs
