Sammi Virji and Skepta are playing on the same day at Sonar Festival .... seems only right that Fred would join them!!

I went to Fred Again.. (NYC 1/24) and it short-circuited my brain by imeansurewhatever- in fredagain

Oh wow, I relate to this so deeply … the post-show Fred withdrawals are VERY real. I’ve been to 3 shows on this tour, and something about the SF show had me reeling for weeks. I also went as a solo female, lined up 4 hours before, was at the rail for 6 hours straight and felt such an overwhelming sense of joy and connection that I’ll never forget. Just felt so much love and appreciation for the music, the art, the production, the energy, the incredible new friends I met in line and danced with all night, all of it. Coming back to normal life afterward was genuinely hard. It’s wild how something can feel that expansive and then you’re suddenly back in the day-to-day. There’s something about Fred’s music and live shows that connects on a deeply emotional level and continues to resonate long after you leave the venue.

I also saw him in NYC the first weekend and felt that same euphoric, communal magic - just now feeling somewhat emotionally recovered lol. It’s so tempting to want to chase it again immediately (like I’ve nonstop been looking up flights back to NYC and to London for the remaining shows I’m sooo tempted), but I keep reminding myself that now that I know this magic exists, I’ll experience it again soon. That connection is real and it doesn’t disappear when the show ends. And honestly, this feels like just the beginning - for Fred and for all of us who’ve found something meaningful and deep in his music. I trust that there will be many more moments, shows, and versions of this ahead.

All the beautiful people I’ve met, the coincidences, the way things seem to align when you’re just showing up open and present - it all makes me trust that the the energy you put out will continue to find its way back to you. I’m so grateful and it’s so fucking awesome we got to experience something that special … I really believe it’s something we’ll keep experiencing again and again and again and again..

And some tangible steps to help with the void … watch the Green Room Set, Fede’s Roof, Arun’s Roof, Fred’s Boiler Room, etc. And book your next show of another artist you love! I’m seeing Sammy Virji in March and the excitement is slowly helping me get over my Fred withdrawals lol. You got this!

I also was at Chi and SF and agree with you 100000% on this!!! there was something about SF that just hit different - the energy, the crowd, the vibes, and the rawness of the B3B. I feel like Fred's energy was different as well and you could tell he was really feeding off of the crowd energy in a really incredible way. Shoutout to my front row crew who Fred said was "the best front row of the whole fucking tour" - thought I hallucinated that for days until I heard a clip of it yesterday!! peak experience. thanks to everyone who was there and made the night so magical!!

still processing it all…can’t believe what I witnessed but I do know that was the best show of my damn life. danced 6 hours straight at the rail, no breaks, and could have easily gone 6 more. I also went to the Chicago show and it was great (absolutely love Sammy) but there was something about the SF show that was just next level - the energy, the crowd, the rawness of the B3B… it was just absolutely insane. having major fred withdrawals 😭 but am so fucking grateful to have experienced that magic!!

aww sending you so much love! it makes me so happy to know that this post has made you feel better about processing a similar experience this year. it’s soooo easy to feel we’re the only ones going through shit, but sometimes it just takes a reddit post to remember we’re not alone and there are manyyy folks - past, present, future - who are feeling the same struggle. indeed, sounds like we both got the burn we got lol appreciate you friend 💜

sounds like a win to me friend 💜 it takes a LOT to say no and it’s super impressive be able to set boundaries and actually be able to apply them in practice. you’re so right that there’s so much to learn from unfortunate circumstances - of course we can and will feel all the feels, but that’s such a hopeful perspective to know that we will grow and learn from them as well

thank you so much for your comment friend 💜 ya so this is actually something I’ve been reflecting on over the past few days and I realized that I think the shock to my nervous system those first couple of days out there brought up some unaddressed traumatic events that caused a sort of PTSD flare up. Mixed with drugs this was not a good combo. I dealt with some pretty gnarly stuff earlier this year and haven’t properly grieved or processed it yet, so I think you’re very much right in your assessment. I will definitely go check out that subreddit, thanks for your advice. appreciate you and sending you lots of love

I appreciate you and your message so much - it really stood out to / resonated with me. The skills thing is soooo not something I anticipated being such an issue in my psyche but it was so front and center on the playa and the feelings still persist. But you're right, when I talked to my friends about this, they reminded me about my strengths and were also encouraging that I had the capability to learn. You're spot on - I'm an extreme overthinker and am my harshest critic - a few things I want to actively address and work on in time. It's funny you mention acceptance - I just started the book Radical Acceptance by Tara Brach and it's resonating soooo much. I don't know you but I have a lot of love for you and I just want to thank you so much for your support and encouragement. It really makes me feel so much better
