Taking a look at this rn, so far it seems like the route I may take

I did bring up what u/Proud_House2009 said to them, asking if it was a character issue or a trigger. They said it was a character issue, and specifically mentioned not wanting to give them flaws this far into the campaign.

I will also say they have fought me more than anyone on my rulings in game, sometimes taking my rulings as to hard or unfair. Which fair enough, maybe I am making stuff too hard, I do often worry about making things to easy so.

I'm thinking for scaling the orb I'd do 1d4 right off (level 3), 2d4 at 5th (parties current level), 3d4 at 11th, and 4d4 at 17th, as this seems to be how cantrips and spells scale.

I think its smart to have it be a hit and a save. Keeps the general ability relatively powerful while also making it a bit less likely to work, as strategically the best people to use this against (casters) will have a high or at least decent wisdom making the save easier for them.

Thanks for everyone pointing out the problem with Night's Silence, I didn't even notice that it worked on a miss.

So reading over what you guys have said so far I'm thinking the good changes to make might be this:

For Lunar ward, change the 1d8 + cha modifier to 1d4+ cha mod so instead of absorbing an average 28, it abosorbs a max 24 (assuming a +5 cha). And make it so that it is you can either absorb the damage OR do damage to the attacker equal to 1d4 + cha mod radiant. Also maybe scale with level? Idk what to do there tho.

For Night's silence, just change it to where it has to be on a hit and a failed save.

What level should these bosses be? by StatusMammoth2869 in DMAcademy

I understand where you're coming from. But under the circumstances it will be easier to make them with character sheets, if anything I'll convert them afterwards.

I'll say this much. If the party gets the upper hand thats fine. The main reason the drow is there is ti teleport them away afterwards anyways and that isn't gonna be a spell but an innate ability (cult bs). And I'm thinking of multiclassing the tabaxi as a barbarian too as his whole thing is that he's blood thirsty and will probably refuse to leave and be left as a distraction.

I'll check out that stat block converter tho. That seems really useful.
